Plenty of enterprising local dining establishments are making marketing hay out of the shutdown, offering all kinds of
free and discounted fare to furloughed feds.
Here’s one offer that stands out from the pack for its creativity: Portuguese roast-chicken chain Nando’s Peri-Peri is offering a free chicken breast to fed workers deemed non-essential. Their clever moniker for the deal: “Boneless Chicken, Spineless Congress.”
To claim the gratis bird, workers must visit the chain’s
Facebook page and present a government ID. One caveat: “Members of Congress need not apply.” (Well, technically, lawmakers are essential, but insult delivered.)
Spicy Sauce.
