On Thursday, Mr Barilla issued a statement to apologise, explaining that he was trying to say "simply that the woman plays a central role in a family".

Out of the frying pan and into the fire.

I guess they don't want single men cooking their pasta.

Apparently only straight women in traditional family homemaker roles can stir Barilla's pasta. Men, regardless of preference or marital status, can not.

you know, i hope this "moral stand" or whatever the fuck this was is still worth it when it hits them in the bottom line.

(i really, really fucking hope it hits them in the bottom line and doesn't become a thing like chick-fil-a did - christian pasta - where they end up benefiting from being a bunch of dicks.)

I don't think it will. Chick-fil-A is more of a cultural thing in the South, especially in GA where it was founded and things are named after S. Truett Cathy. I don't think Barilla pasta has the same kind of cultural cachet. Although we have seen the douchebaggy lows that fundamentalists are willing to stoop to, soo...

I think there may be some that do, but I doubt very much that it will be anywhere near CFA.

If gay people disliked the concept, he said, they could "eat another brand".

Or anyone who dislikes the concept on principle... if you say so. *Adds to 'no buy' list*
