Active Shooter at the Navy Yard in DC

At least seven people were shot- two of them police officers - on the grounds of the Washington Navy Yard Monday morning, and the shooter has not yet been apprehended, authorities confirmed

Washington Post live blog, latest update (10:13 am) says three shooters with one shooter down.

This is so surreal since I was just in the area yesterday for the baseball game and all the pictures I've seen are of places I was walking around not even 24 hours ago.

Yeah. I'm watching this live blog, too. So scary. I drive by the Yard and work about a mile away.

Well, I think I'll skip heading to the Starbucks down there this morning. My thoughts are with my neighbors and those who work in the neighborhood, and I hope it's resolved soon.

WRC TV is saying 4 dead, 8 injured, possibly multiple shooters. :(

My friend's dad works there and the shooter was on his floor and ran past them. Apparently he and his colleagues hid in the stairwell. My sister works for the Navy (thankfully in a different facility) and I hope all her friends are okay at the Navy Yard.

Yeah, he's on lockdown but apparently 'there are two shooters left?'' This is coming from my friend's FB page.

DC police confirmed 2 total shooters, but there are lots of reports of 3 shooters. One is supposed to be in custody. My stepmom is flipping out in text messages to me right now. She's so nervous =(

Is it too much to ask that people just stop shooting each other? You'd think that would be the easier than the reverse.

We went to the flea market Sunday

I noticed a large uptick in the number of stalls with guns

I can't understand this at all, surely the logic of "if they don't have guns you won't need them" is pretty solid..
