Seeing as how black LGBT+ folk, such as black trans women, are particular targets for white racist murderers, I'm glad to see these organizations are getting behind the cause, as those same black trans women especially are ones who've done so much for the LGBT+ community. LGBT+ organizations should always try to do the most work for their most vulnerable members. I hope from this they will build on and lobby for the safety of black LGBT+ folk, as much as they lobbied for things like gay marriage etc. And while this is US centric, most of the rest of the world follows suit with what happens with America, especially on the front of fighting for rights. This is not just a US issue, so I hope in other countries the message is understood too, that fight against racism is important in LGBT+ organizations.

Semi-related, apparently various assholes like Rush Limbaugh are trying to argue that Martin was the aggressor and attached Zimmerman because he thought he was gay. No joke.

The gay thing is new to me, but I've heard many say that Zimmerman wasn't even following Martin and Martin just attacked him out of the blue.

Apparently evidence is just like your opinion, man. *eyeroll*

how on earth would that even work? Do they think Martin magically forced Zimmerman to exit his vehicle?

I don't even know but I have seen LOTS of people post things along the lines of "pay attention to the FACTS!" claiming that Zimmerman didn't follow Martin at all????

I feel like we have been reading completely different accounts of this whole thing

Aren't they the ones that mail out the blue stickers with the equality sign? what's wrong with HRC? (I honestly don't know, I haven't heard of issues with them)

They've repeatedly shown little to absolutely no interest in helping trans people or supporting trans issues.

There have also been instances of them trying to literally silence trans protesters during equal rights protests ("um, can you not? this is kind of our thing, you're just confusing the message") but I don't recall if that was HRC members or HRC officials or what.

It's good to see so many diverse groups pulling together for the fight for justice for Trayvon Martin and his family.
