Chicago police on Friday night launched an investigation into what led an off-duty officer to shoot and kill his neighbor's dog.

The officer, an eight-year veteran of the force, said he was out with his young son on the 5800 block of North Oketo Avenue, on the city's far northwest side, when Maximus, a four-month-old pit bull, charged at them ( Read more... )

I fucking can't with this bullshit. There are so many assholes out there who just shouldn't be allowed to have any kind of power over others like this.

I'm a little angry, but mostly I'm just very, very sad. That poor puppy. Those poor children. That poor family.

Fuck.

even though i've always thought (as someone who has a rottweiler and has had a german shepherd) that it's really important to acknowledge the potential danger posed by any dog, especially a dog that doesn't know you, it's pretty difficult to imagine any situation in which a police officer could not subdue a four month old puppy without resorting to lethal force. BECAUSE IT IS A PUPPY.

btw i can really tell why everyone is terrified of pit bulls and bull terriers. look at this little monster:

This is not the first time a Chicago officer has shot someone's puppy.

Jesus fucking Christ.

Puppies get excited and run to people because they want to be friends with them. That's just how puppies (usually) are. This just breaks my heart.

Can someone plz tell me why the CPD just knocked on my door at 11:30 at night without so much as even a call saying that they needed to interview me. There was 6 officers and 2 squad cars. They asked who's dog it was, if we have the documents for his shots, who lives in my house, my info, who we got the dog from, & who I spoke with when I filed my complaint.

Jesus. They're going to make trouble for this family every way they can until the family finally can't take it anymore and shuts up and goes away.
