Chicago police on Friday night launched an investigation into what led an off-duty officer to shoot and kill his neighbor's dog.

The officer, an eight-year veteran of the force, said he was out with his young son on the 5800 block of North Oketo Avenue, on the city's far northwest side, when Maximus, a four-month-old pit bull, charged at them

Is there a legal fund for the family? I can't donate right now, but the only way he will be punished at all is to sue the everlovin' fuck out of him. What a fucking psychopath. He should be fired and arrested. I would seriously have to restrain myself from beating the shit out of a person if they shot and killed one of my pets. I'd probably have to leave town until I cooled down to avoid arrest myself. And by "cool down" I mean become focused and calm enough to figure out a way to fuck him over legally. FUCK THIS MOTHERFUCKING ASSHOLE.

For those curious and brave enough to read the comments on the news article:

Almost every single comment in support of the officer comes from a member of Pro-BSL organization Dogsbite (dot) org. They are well-known in the advocacy world for spamming articles with the word "pit bull" in it, and praising any police brutality or private citizen cruelty against "the undogs" or "killer mutants". They are essentially the Westboro of dog advocacy.

I'm really glad I didn't go to the article. I know this is old, but thanks for the warning. I've already reached my "fuck you for existing" level today. Having to read comments from Colleen Lynn and her sycophants would push me right over the edge and leave me a drooling mess.

There needs to be a petition or something to get this guy fired. I don't think they'll listen but maybe it will make enough of a point. This is so far from acceptable that I don't even know what to say. I have a six year old and if someone did that to one of her pets in front of her... I can't even imagine.

And it's a PUPPY. Puppies charge you because they WANT to play with you. And even if for some reason you thought that baby was going to hurt you, why in the name of God would you think you needed to shoot it eight times. You don't even have to put eight bullets into a full grown buck to stop it from charging, what the hell would justify that with a dog? That poor boy. That poor family...
