We are broke as shit right now and I don't resent almost anyone a spring break vacay, especially not the Obama kids.Come on now.

American taxpayers are "footing the bill" for these things the same way they "foot the bill" for a postal workers summer trip to Jamaica or a CDC researcher's new work wardrobe. Or the same way Coca-Cola "foots the bill" for their employees' vacations and clothes.

By which I mean not at all. Obama is an employee of the federal government and he earns a salary in return for the work that he does. He then uses that salary to purchase things and services, like clothes and vacations. That's not any different from any company CEO, any federal government worker, or any other employee anywhere else. Just because his salary comes out of the federal tax budget doesn't mean that taxpayers are "footing the bill."
