I hope these kids have a blast, because they deserve a spring break from all the bullshit flung at them.

The only thing that's on the taxpayers' dime is security, which we'd pay for no matter where the Obama family members are. What the fuck is he angry about? Is every well off person horrible for going somewhere nice while lots of other people are financially not so well off?

Only black Democrats.

Apparently the Republicans are using "taxpayer-supported" as an excuse to apply the Welfare Queen prism of fiscal responsibility expectations on the First Family. If they weren't using race to do the same thing already.

Even if President Obama and his wife had NO MONEY and NO OTHER SOURCE OF INCOME the President's Salary BY LAW is $400,000.

I think that can afford a trip to Atlantis or two. JFC.

My boss makes less than $400K a year, and a couple of years ago she and her family took this exact same trip. Except in her case, she went with her kids. So yeah, while I'm guessing this trip wasn't "cheap", I'm sure the Obamas can MORE than afford to send their daughters on a trip.

My SIL managed a budget version - staying in a cheaper hotel, and just paying for access to the water park.

These people always have something to say when the Obamas take a vacation, or go anywhere really. Where was all this "taxpayer anger" when other presidents took vacations?

Bush regularly got denounced for all of the vacation days he took while in office. SNL did a skit about it. "Other people may drop like flies in this administration, but I'm going to be around for a long time. On the job, making the tough decisions 24/7. That's 24 hours a week, 7 months a year. You can count on it." Wish I could find a video of it.

don't remember any taxpayer outrage though.

I think it was less about the cost though (since the Bushes are rich and clearly did it on their own money) and more about the fact that he was often on vacation when he was supposed to be responding to some national emergency or making decisions about something important.
