Why did they leave it at an IKEA?

The woman went shopping and left the monkey in a cage in her car in the parking lot. The monkey escaped and wandered into IKEA which is when animal control stepped in and took it.

Oh, that's just precious. Even monkeys want cheap furniture and Swedish meatballs.

Charney told the judge Nakhuda and one of her two sons have been suffering from anxiety since Darwin was taken and that the sanctuary has denied her access to Darwin so any bond between them is lost.

No sympathy whatsoever. Primates should NOT BE PETS, EVER.

And apparently the judge today said she could go to visit him at the sanctuary, and she *refused*, saying it would cause 'undue stress and anxiety'.

Someone needs to tell her she cant have it both ways.

She knew and didn't care. It's even funnier that she's a lawyer.

She was treating the monkey like her child. I'd love to see how she handles it when it grows into its full strength and gets agressive. Then see how fast she severs the "special bond".

Selfish, fucked-up people with no respect for animals get zero sympathy from me.

I am baffled people want to keep primates as pets (Outside of a few trained helper animals), especially after all of the mauling. It's a known fact that primates will go for eyes, hands, face and genitals when in a fight. Unfortunately, they are better at clawing and biting than we are. D:

She also doesn't seem to be too worried about how anxious it was...

Even small monkeys who've had their teeth completely removed can do plenty of damage, there are a few injury photos here that were done by toothless animals. It's not just the chimps and larger primates, even if they're making headlines.
