Was this like a plot point in Rise of the Planet of the Apes or something, or am I just all confused?

Since it's illegal to own a monkey in Toronto, Nakhuda and her family are willing to move with Darwin to Kawartha Lakes, where it isn't specifically prohibited.

Huh. I didn't know my hometown area allowed that. But then again this is the area where watering your lawn during a rain shower is still illegal.

Yup. My high school English teacher got a fine for it too. He fought and won because even the judge was all O.o about it.

Really now.

By the way, did you know that macaques carry a virus that's fatal to humans? And that they may or may not be the species responsible for transferring retroviruses to humans? Sounds like the perfect animal to have around two small children!

Was coming in here to say this - macaques are illegal to have as pets in a lot of places for a REASON (beyond the 'having a primate as a pet is a stupid idea' reason).

If she was all willing to move to keep her monkey, why was she living in a place where it was illegal until she got caught? no sympathy. none. Primates are not pets, even if they are adorable. (which they totally are).
