I'm so hoping the school where I work (in northern Maryland) cancels classes tomorrow, and that they let us know about it today. I have a 40 minute commute up I-95 and I'm getting scared.

Here is a list of school closings in MD. Looks like it is fairly complete. Hopefully your district is listed and you can check it out before you would have to leave.

Oh, yeah, my college decided to close yesterday so I'm at home, watching the storm from my window. It looks pretty grim out there.

It's not an overreaction... you can see this thing from space, and -- more importantly -- the barometric pressure is lower than anything ever recorded in the area. I'm glad you evacuated. Please stay safe.

I'm in South Western Ontario here, we've got advisory's for wind and rainfall, people are suggesting tying down the patio furniture, making sure that you know where your emergency kit is, that sort of thing.

I'm not over-worried, a little apprehensive about the potential for damaging winds, but otherwise just making sure my phone is charged and that I can find a flashlight in each room.

YES. Same here, except I don't even live on campus so I have to try to travel 30 miles to get there first! So far (at least) 2 counties in my area have announced that their public school systems will be closed Monday & Tuesday, so I can only hope that everyone else will follow suit and MAYBE my university will take a hint and do the same when they see how DANGEROUS holding classes will be!

But I am especially concerned since they sent out an email a few days saying that they currently anticipate holding all classes & activities as scheduled, so I won't be surprised if I am struggling through a hurricane to get to school tomorrow morning. :|

Yeah, I'm going Government training so our school doesn't close unless the entire Government closes, and of course they're not saying anything. The class I have tomorrow has 3 people in it and our teacher has to come down through Maryland and has a 2 hour + commute. I'm putting the chances at between slim and none of her getting to class on time, which means I probably have to schlep into school and have it be a big waste. :(

Yeah, my uni is like that too. I recall there being some huge snowstorm a whole bunch of years ago where every single local school and high school were closed but nope, uni stayed open. No one was in classes though. Granted, I live in PA so I probably don't have much to worry about quite yet, but Monday I have an exam and this huuuuuuge problem set due (I have zero plans to sleep tonight) so I keep hoping an email will magically appear in my in-box, though I know it is wishful thinking.
