Safe trip! My cousins are also evacing. They are surrounded by water on 2 sides. :/ And my best friend is across the street from the evac zone. Good gravy...

I live in DC and I am dreading this so much. The wind is already crazy outside.

Ditto on the winds here in NYC. I'm not worried about flooding. Power outages are going to be the problem here. My entire block has trees growing through the power wires. I think we're basically screwed power-wise. :/

So far, my hurricane preparedness plan = buying a ton of Mike's Hard Lemonade, getting my girlfriend the fuck out of Philly and up here (I'm in NYC), and making sure we have water and food and stuff. ..oh, right, and duct taping towels over the air conditioners (which we can't get out of the windows, ugh) so the cold air can't get in.

So far, so good! Kind of worried, but y'know, whatever. I feel lucky at least I'm not in an evacuation zone. :X

Running down to CVS to get a flashlight just in case, and I have several books to read. (But I'm a speed reader, so they may not last very long.) Luckily, I have food I can eat.

I hope you find one and I hope you find batteries too. Seriously, I went to Target on Friday and the whole flashlight and battery aisles were picked clean or ransacked in the case of the battery aisle.

ditto lol at Target. I ended up getting two flashlights at Advance Auto Parts!

I found an LED lantern and D batteries in Target so I'm good but I'm pretty sure that after this I'm going to invest in some hand crank flashlights and ones of those hand crank NOAA weather radios.
