I don't see any mention, in this article nor elsewhere on the web, of payments being discontinued to men who were displaced by the evacuation around Fukushima if they get married. Not that it should matter; finding a little bit of happiness doesn't make up for losing your livelihood and everything you own.

marriage for women stops emotional distress AND has the added benefit of creating happy homes with a less likely chance of gun violence? GOSH. IT REALLY IS THE PANACEA THAT WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!!

Well to be fair, gun violence specifically is pretty much a non-existent problem in Japan, but your point definitely still stands.
