Actually, when I'm thinking about it, the whole manifest thingy is a mess. So many people died when the plane broke down. So it's a dead end with them. And what Desmond's gonna say to them? You died in another life\reality?
Maybe (just theories) Desmond has some idea of which people need to know about the island. The manifest probably contains convenient information like cell phone numbers and addresses.
I mentioned this on another post and it is the theory I am FIRMLY STICKING BY:
Sideways-time Locke is actually Flocke.
Of this I am certain.
Although saying that, if that was Des trying to commit A Great Deed by killing off Flocke, I'm sure that he would have found a more efficient and guaranteed way of doing it. And they wouldn't have just dropped it in at the end of an episode.
I don't know if alt!Locke has been MIB the whole time, but I think it's distinctly possible that he is now, after the hitandrun. He sure looked... Flocke-ish when they showed his face on the gurney. Kinda pissed and scheming.
Lol. I remember they showed a close up of his eyes and it was just a really familiar kind of expression. But I suppose it could just be that he was pissed that he flat got run over.
I thought that Locke ends up in Jack's hospital [the only hospital in the world, y'all!] was sort of a foregone conclusion. I hope they don't make it a big reveal [if it happens] in the episode cause it's sort of like, well, duh. But yeah, I never contemplated Ben. But behind this theory.
