How would the early books have been different? Would Neville have had the same adventures, or would Dumbledore have guided him in a different way? Would we have even seen the Sorcerer's stone and the Chamber of Secrets?
Would Neville have blossomed into a BAMF quicker under the direct guidance of Dumbledore? Really, Harry got opportunities to learn that the others didn't. Would they have made a difference to Neville?
I think they would've made a huge diference to the character of Neville. It's not until the fifth book that he gets some confidence in using spells because of the DA. He's got his grandmother that won't even buy him his own wand because this one belonged to his father etc. All in all, I don't think Neville ever really had the chance to fully explore himself while he was a kid.
Right, right, because even if Neville was the Chosen One, he'd be selected to participate in the tournament (it'd be more sensational, I guess), and that'd still lead to Cedric's death.
