he's actually been looking fairly happy in the tv footage i've seen, smiling all the time, signing autographs left and right, etc.
actually i think he will be first choice. our main gk hélton is 37, and even though he's still quite good, i think he's more of a locker room figure nowadays. and our 2nd choice gk fabiano (who was our most used gk last year) went to fenerbahçe on a loan, so...

It depends? The thing is, all of the Russians play in the same league and most at the same team (from what I can understand), and Capello's musings were that since the Russians only knew/were exposed to one type of play (and you don't have that much foreign talent like you do in the PL, or that domestic talent like in Germany), there seems to be a problem.
I think an idea was floated to have the Russian team play as their own league team, and take on European competitions (via Europa, CL, that sort of thing) but UEFA scuppered that move.
But based on Capello when he was England's manager, the players found him inflexible, and the press found his choices shocking. So he didn't really do that well by us.
