this is so sad how true this is. i don't think many people have really been paying attention to stuff that's going on at madrid behind the scenes... it's really bad and i'm just waiting for it to get worse, tbh. a lot of the drama (for hardcore madrid fans) is flo pulling his strings to make sure he's injected his people everywhere in the club.

many people don't really know that real madrid's previous main medical doctor/physio - chueca - was actually removed/fired from the club because of who flo brought in to replace him, olmo. olmo was actually brought in by flo on the recommendation of flo's personal cardiologist and friend, who is also on the board of directors for real madrid. this is where A LOOOT of the power dynamics and struggles between flo/sergio really came in to play - because many of the players in the locker room trusted chueca and had little faith and confidence in olmo (he's really bad at his job - why do you think poor coentrão is never fit?) olmo would go back to flo and talk about what was going on in the locker room and people would start ratting out players and their diagnoses to flo. but sergio and many of the madrid core are really good friends and trust chueca because he was always looking out for their health and playing ability first and foremost.

not too long ago, most of the real madrid medical staff (many who had been there 10 years) were just fired out of the blue. not really given a specific reason but were told "yeah, sorry, we don't need you here anymore. pack your stuff and go. thanks." and olmo brought in his own staff. iirc, one of his many physio's isn't even licensed at all (like i said, poor fábio) and is just good friends with olmo. a lot of this actually started under mou, where physios would actually go to mou and tell him whatever it was the players were discussing in private or telling him about their conditions and whatnot. despite mou being the manager at the time, it was a breech of privacy and confidentiality which really broke down the locker room trust between the coaching staff and the players. this has been happening for a looong time. there's an overview here of the medical situation, but i'd have to go through my history folders for some of the articles i was given in spanish.

people really shouldn't believe that it's just "ramos wants more money" scenario but it's pretty heated behind the scenes. sergio demanded that chueca treat him, flo was pissed about it, and that's when they started butting heads. they've been doing this since the CWC.

but IA with all of this comment. especially the last part.

Exactly, yes. The article says it all. It's just very, very sad. And I agree with you. It is going to get worse. I feel like people who aren't fans of madrid don't really see/care about the effect flo is having on the club and the fans. It's not directly important to them. But to madridistas it is such a huge issue. The treatment of Casillas has been appalling. What Flo is doing is similar to Blatter but at a club level. He has bought his way to power, and is ensuring he doesn't lose this power...hence his smearing of Iker and anyone else that doesn't fit his views.

The Sergio contract issue is so frustrating...again, so many people think he's just looking for money but that's not it. If Flo pushes Sergio out too I don't know what is going to happen...things are looking worrisome.

The second link was so spot on too. When football becomes a business it takes away the rights of the fans: to have a club they can fall in love with, to watch the beautiful game, to have loyalty towards their players and club, to feel trust in their club. So sad to see the way the game is changing for some clubs.

flo runs real madrid the same way he runs his his company - his way or gtfo. i've said it many times and definitely, yeah, flo doesn't care about the club's lasting legacy or protecting madridismo. he's protecting his self interests, lining his pockets, and making sure everyone falls under his rule. if not? you better gtfo because he will come after you. i haven't looked into it too much but don't be surprised if more media outlets start coming for sergio in the coming season - as well as other players who are more vocal in their support of sergio than simply remaining quiet. flo has his own segments in the press and enough pull that he's going to start fabricating criticisms of sergio and the "discord" in the locker room, but still do damage control for himself one way or another.

if flo pushes sergio out, he's doing the same thing that happened with del bosque, morientes (lol morata anyone?), raúl, valdano, etc. he's done it before and gotten away with it; it'll keep on happening again and again. because flo! why else?

flo runs madrid like a business entity and, to me, that is disgrace. i don't care if other people think i'm too deep in my emotions for real madrid but this is my club and um, madrid is not a fucking business corporation that needs to maximize profits and revenue in the form of $$. nah, that's not what this sport is entirely all about. yeah, football clubs bring in money, fans, trophies, wins, medals, etc. but you also have to be aware of the other things this club and sport represent for many. people need to understand that this is about a balance between both sides and flo is changing that for one thing more than the other. and that is not okay with me.

i don't remember much of the details, but when khedira was recently injured while in madrid (around february) he actually went to see the german nt physio instead of staying close to madrid. that's why khedira was gradually phased out - ancelotti played him less because the medical staff weren't happy because flo wasn't too happy with sami not seeing his team of doctors. luka was fortunate enough to see this and that's why he stayed close to madrid and their medical staff, but also had additional help from outside doctors. he's one of the players in the locker room that still doesn't trust our current medical staff either; ramos is just the leader of that campaign.

mesut left before the start of the 2013 season, which was around the time when flo appointed olmo as the main club doctor . maybe him? other than that, i can't recall anything else. this was about the time when the medical staff was being flushed out bit by bit, but it only experienced its full cleanse this summer.

and yeah, flo is shady. he changed the rules to run for presidency that makes it virtually impossible for anyone to run against him.
