World Cup Winner Ginter has been shunted down to the German U-21 team! So has Kevin Volland. And when did Leno get the #1 shirt? I thought ter Stegen owned it.
Because if you've watched Adrian, you'll see that he's in better form than Iker. I mean, the dude saved West Ham's asses against Arsenal despite a dislocated finger (even then the scoreline was 3-0 :/).
I would drop Iker for West Ham's Adrian.LMAO srsly?! No, just no. Iker may be having a bit of a tough time at the moment but it is more down to RM injuries and squad issues than a significant enough drop in personal form to have him dropped from the NT
( ... )
But I do feel that his form has dropped drastically. Enough to start de Gea over him. Experience is important but I don't see Spain doing well, not when their #1 GK and captain isn't at his peak anymore. Leaving aside club performances, his recent NT performances have not been convincing. That performance against Slovakia.
And Adrian has proved himself against the top clubs in the PL. He may not deserve to start over de Gea but he deserves to be called up.
And Spain are in transition. They need to break in their younger players. It may not yield in immediate results but it will pay off (as a German team fan used to Jogi's experiments, I know how rage inducing it can be). And Olli Kahn was dropped for Lehmann (and he was in splendid form at the time and the captain of the German team and Bayern Munich) and it worked out pretty okay.
But it's my opinion and I'll confess that I've never been on the San Iker bandwagon so I'm also a bit biased :D
You´re missing half the point though. You really want a keeper who has won everything in the sport to be replaced by a keeper who has won nothing and has less than three years top flight experience, and no national team experience to replace him in the squad?! It doesn´t matter whether it´s Iker and Adrian or Kahn and Jens, to suggest ANY team should go into a European qualifying competition with three inexperienced goalkeepers on their roster is at best naive and at worst stupid

But how weird would it be for Ginter to win the U21 Euros after winning the World Cup? I'm just giggling at the thought of it.
