lol.. why would he drop iker out of the squad? he's the captain. and except from the bad game he had against schalke, he's had a great season..

Because if you've watched Adrian, you'll see that he's in better form than Iker. I mean, the dude saved West Ham's asses against Arsenal despite a dislocated finger (even then the scoreline was 3-0 :/).

That's cause de Gea plays for United. You go back and read last week's match post and you'll know what I'm talking about ;)

that's precisely what i'm saying. notoriety has as much of a merit as ability does when coaches pick their players. adrian needs more of that if he wants to get noticed.

True. But when 56389291 articles are dedicated to Man United (seriously, after Arsenal beat them in the FA Cup, there were hardly 2 articles about them and more about United) compared to the 5 for West Ham after their matches, what can one do?

unfortunately, it's just the way it is. :/

The way it is is that way because of the quality of the players. Every player can have a great run, but that doesn´t make them worthy of lots of praise and articles. De Gea gets praise because of playing for Utd, but he also had praise for years before that, this isn´t something coming from nowhere.

Players who deserve the praise will get it, and players who have potential and talent will shine and grab the attention. Adrian is a good player but he´s not a headline grabber for a reason, and it´s not just because De Gea is getting all the headlines.

But players who are worth the articles, will get them, regardless of who they play for. Also the best players will get noticed and picked up by big teams, if they haven't or they aren´t at least on the big club´s radars, then it´s generally safe to assume that they might be good players, but not good enough to get to the next level.

De Gea has been well known in Spain since long before he was at Utd, even coming up through the ranks at Atletico he was making an impact in the youth levels of the NT ... it´s not like he came out of nowhere. Even Asenjo, getting his first senior call up, has been in the youth system for nearly a decade - working his way up from the U 17s.
