Well done! Mikel Arteta hasn't changed much at all, at all. Lord, they look cold. *shivers*

So Lampard was blindsided as well? The more I read about this, the more confusing it gets. He says it himself in his explanation that he signed for NYCFC, but apparently yesterday Man City admitted he didn't sign for NYCFC. What? Here is a timeline of this mess, btw.

I did a quick search for you and found this: http://www.ecosdelbalon.com/2015/01/analisis-tactico-fernando-torres-atletico-madrid-simeone/ I haven't read it yet as I have to head out, but it talks about how Torres fits in Simeone's system and the comment section seems interesting as well.

Thank you so much. jazzypom January 10 2015, 11:37:21 UTC
I know that my Simeone and Torres fixation is a bit much, but I'm just racking my head as to why Torres? The rumour of his condition might be exaggerated but not by much? What does Simeone see in him.

Thank yyyoooouuuu. Enjoy your day.

Nah, I'm interested as well! Maybe Simeone wanted a new challenge and he likes Torres? He has won La Liga and he came very close to winning the CL, there isn't much left for him to do at Atlético (I assume he wants to leave at a high). From what I've read, Torres' problem is more mental than physical and his injury wasn't handled well (I read about his injury problems at a tumblr blog, I assume you have seen it?). While he might feel additional pressure ''at home'', he also gets more affection from Atleti and their love for him is more inconditional. I think if there is a coach who can break the wall in this case, it's Simeone - he's not only a manager but a good coach and mentor. However, IMO a good start is crucial here or his confidence will go even more downhill.

Here is an article from the same site about Torres' form: http://www.ecosdelbalon.com/2015/01/carrera-fernando-torres-atletico

My interest might come off as well... prurient but it's not, honest. Considering that Simeone has been after Torres since last summer (got blown off by the board), and then again, Simeone gave them a promise that if he got Torres, he'd give them another year, and the board was taken aback, so I've read, because Manchester City was sniffing after Cholo hard, and Cholo was taking English lessons and so forth ( ... )

*prayers for your keyboard*

The round up was really quick though! From thought to post it took less than twenty minutes. I normally have to clear sixty minutes for this (because I normally include pictures and snark).

My bad!

Woooooowwww. *peers over glasses*

What kind of fountain of youth, Torres? I have to say, this season's Altético strip is the best I've seen since I've been aware of the team (Torres came to LFC from Atlético, and he's never been shy of pledging his troth to Atlético, so to speak). Wow.

Hey, what do you think about Simeone's wanting Torres back? Quixotic or is there a bit of canniness to it? Knowing of Simeone, I'd go for the latter, but it's still a gamble, don't you think?

I don't fully understand why Simeone wanted him back, if I'm honest. We needed a striker in January to help Mandzukic out with Jiménez struggling to adapt (but that was expected because he's playing in another continent now, never mind a different country) but I certainly don't think Torres was the right player to come in, not when we could've went for Kramaric, Icardi or Podolski. For me, it didn't show very much ambition. We're trying to defend our title and we bring in a striker that is hopeless all across Europe. Now we've brought in the 33 year old Cani from Villarreal on loan where he could hardly even get a game. I'm not sure if these signings will help us in anyway, but I suppose with his track record, I can do nothing but trust that Simeone knows what he's doing ( ... )

Well, Atletico has Simeone for another year, I hear, because getting Torres meant that much to him. So that's good eh?
The January transfer window isn't done, so there might be more movement yet. Considering how well Atletico did against Real Madrid, I think so far so good. I hope Simeone wins coach of 2014, but Atlético keeps being overlooked for stuff. :/

Perhaps with a full strength team around him he'll play a little better, but I'm not expecting him to jump ahead of Mandzu for a starting XI spot.

To be fair to Simeone, he did say that Torres was a month off what he thought was fitness, no? I wouldn't write him off just yet.

Raheem Sterling is taking a little holiday in Jamaica. Certain pundits are questioning this move but I don't see anything wrong with it. Fergie used to give players breaks too.

It makes sense, tbh jazzypom January 10 2015, 15:03:36 UTC
Sterling has been under pressure to score since we needed a scorer (Balo and co have gone begging) and he was getting stressed and shattered. We used him over the Christmas fixtures, leaned on him heavily. A jaded player is of no use to anyone and Rodgers did say that after the Christmas fixtures, Sterling would have gone on holiday. Jamaica is a bit far though (eight hour flight, and jet lagged when he comes back, even if you travel first class).

Mourinho told Hazard to take four days off and come back 'with happy legs' and no one said anything about that.

True but Hazard has 2 small kids, chances are small that he travelled to Jamaica. Doesn't sound like resting all that much. On the other, Sterling was born there so it's understandable that he visited the country when he had the chance.

Hazard probably went to somewhere in Europe.

A lot of Jamaicans over here, when you tell them holiday, they tend to return back to Jamaica, or might go to the US, and barely travel anywhere else. That's how it is. I think he came to the UK when he was eight, and still has family over there. So I guess it makes sense. If I had the money, I would. I haven't been there in YEARS.
