Other news: Lavezzi and Cavani returned to PSG 4 days late, got fined (undisclosed amount), are training separately from the team and Blanc banned them for 2 matches ...

Aww, those pics and videos of Torres' presentation! His kids are so cute. Now let's just hope it works out for him. I'm excited, tbh!

Ugh, Barça, especially Luis Enrique:

Oy! I guess they are definitely breaking away from PSG, then? Drama.

Yeah, I certainly won't be surprised if that turns out to be the case.
Here are Blanc's quotes: http://www.goal.com/en/news/90/france/2015/01/04/7649372/blanc-bans-lavezzi-and-cavani-for-two-games

SMH. I don't really follow Ligue 1 but every time Lavezzi's name comes up, unprofessionalism comes up in the same breath as well. Cavani- well, drama queen. I guess the money situation (the owner divorcing his wife, so she's gotten half of his fortune, right?) can't help either. Or am I thinking of AC Monaco?

Wow, lovely pictures of Superflop at the Vicente Calderon! And I will never get over him having children; Nora looks like his baby sister.

Well, Watford weren't so bad despite losing 3-0. They held Chelsea down for a while and Mou got so desperate that he had to sub in Diego Costa (who didn't even score) at half-time to get things going.

Arsenal were decent, Hull were dead. Theo was looking understandably rusty but he did well in his first start in one year. Joel Campbell needs to finish better but he worked hard and Alexis, boy, is everything (that picture with his dogs is adorable). And BFG got a goal, yay! On towards our match against Stoke (ugh).

Aww Torres looks so happy. He's one of those people that you just have to like and wish all the best in the world. I don't think we can expect 30 goals a season. But if he scores a few goals as a back-up striker, that would be enough, I guess.

Why would someone want to sign Evans? He must be quite out of form, he's a PR nightmare and fans nor sponsors want him.

I was a bit disappointed at Real but I knew that the winning streak had to end. I don't think the trip to Dubai right after the winter break was such a good idea but they have to please sponsors. Either way it definitely got better when I saw that Barca lost too. Well done Moyes. I hope he plays a good season with La Real. Maybe that's more his level than Man Utd. To coach at a big club you need something special, Luis Enrique might miss that too.

For Moyes, he is a good midlevel manager- he did well enough at Everton (but Martinez did better - up to recently, anyway). Moyes will do enough to stablise La Real and move them into mid league, but if the club is going to want exciting football with a presence Moyes will not be a long term solution.

Enrique tinkers too much, the players don't know who'll play fifteen minutes before the games, and the rest of it. But Real Sociedad are giant killers when it comes to the big teams, so if they'd lost against Barcelona that would have been strange. :P

Of course, if you beat Real and Atletico none other is expected than a win against Barca. Barcelona has a lot of very good players who haved played at a very high level for a long time now. Only saying whose gonna play right before the match, sounds strange to me.

How they thought they could potentially offer Evans a contract and no one bat an eyelid is unreal. I see from that article his potential move to that Maltese club has been blocked as he's banned from working abroad too.

OP I am so glad you posted that photo of Alexis and his 2 adorable dogs- I was going to post it here as I looked through his Instagram this morning and he absolutely adores his dogs! So many photos!!!

I watched no matches yesterday, but Mou threatening the team sounds hilarious as ever!

I think Evans needs to find other work. He can be rehabbed, and integrated into society but professional football isn't it. The irony is, Oldham doesn't have that much supporters (20K- they are a small club, fighting not to fall into Conference, iirc), so how they thought that this would fly under the radar is shocking to me.

People are like, "But he didn't kill someone like X player, and that guy got to come back to work." Oyyy, this will run and run.

I watched a couple of matches, the Real Sociedad and Arsenal one. Didn't watch the Chelsea one, because the 3:00 pm feeds were blacked out (because of FA reasons).

Yeah, Mourinho is tossing the toys from his pram. But his team is tired, and it would be nice to see some academy talent on the field. Ahh, but that might be too much like right!

Well Oldham don't seem to be doing that badly in terms of the league table. They are dead in the middle, so no chance of relegation yet, so I'm not sure what all the fuss is about them needing Evans so badly. In fact, a local team to me is much lower than Oldham and are probably gonna be fighting relegation soon enough! I agree completely, how oldham thought they would get this done quickly and quietly is ridiculous. Also, not only do they need the supporters to agree, but also sponsors who put their money and name to the club would be badly affected too.

I get the point that this may come across as the beginnings of a witchhunt, but Evans has himself to blame for all of this. So I really can't feel any sympathy at all. Like you said, he needs to find other work now. Working in an environment which heavily influences younger generations is not good for him with his criminal record now. The fact is, if he killed someone, he would probably still be in jail, however rape and sex crimes still aren't taken seriously not only in our ( ... )

Oh also OP, you'll be pleased to know that I now have a target in place for my German learning - so I am going to a festival in Germany in early Summer and I am using this as a good reason to get the basics nailed down by then. I'm going with a friend who knows zero german, so this is gonna be good motivation to be able to hold basic conversation and hopefully not fuck up the grammar along the way! It's about half a year away, so I think it's a reasonable goal to meet!Woot!!!! Woott!!! Yasss ( ... )

But number 19 is supposed to be a legendary number at the club (so the rojiblancos fans tell me, I forget who the number belonged to), so in a way, it's a true welcome for the Prodigal son. A figurative way of slaying the fatted calf, and preparing new clothes for their lost boy who's come back home.

The fans aren't expecting miracles, to be fair, but they've always had a soft spot for him (his performances helped the club into La Liga and he stayed as long as he could before he had to leave). The feeling is that he helped them out when they needed it, and they're now having his back.

Simeone, it is said, asked the board to get him from AC Milan especially. The board took notice, since Simeone rarely asks for players, he works with the ones that he gets, so the fact that he asked for Torres, they managed it. Said it was 'difficult' but they managed.

Say it after me now, "D'awwww."
