Thanks for the post, OP! A small correction, in that picture of Andy Carroll fighting with Ivanovic, you've titled it West Brom instead of West Ham.

van Persie's face is odd to me. Sometimes, it looks like a melted candleHDU, RVP will always be a sexy chipmunk XD ( ... )

Will amend asap. Not seeing the van Persie hotness, tbh. Kane can be class if he keeps it up.

so marca basically picked the rm side with one barca and one atleti player... i mean, it's not totally unjustifiable because the team is on a winning streak but it's pretty predictable.

well, bale was pretty pricey so if his performance wasn't 'better' than neymar then i'd imagine p*rez would've already sold him by now.

that silva/navas pic! awww! good job bbs! <3

ot: guys the ontd best of nominations post is ongoing rn! pls vote for the WC2014 in the fave types of posts category and fave live discussion posts category! link

That MARCA XI is a bit RM heavy, isn't it? Not that my bbs haven't been wonderfull but you'd expect a paper to have some surprise inclusions.
Not that much difference between Neymar and Bale, tbh.

West Ham was a bit disappointing to me, they were never really in that match, I never ever had the feeling that they could win. But they are still in the top 5 so this season will be a success either way. I was a bit afraid that Southampton would struggle after their losing streak but apparentely not.
Alderweireld is a difficult name but you made it even more difficult (the second 'w' is a bit much). :D

I hope Poldi gets to play.

No football for me tommorrow, I have family time that whole day.
(Also, they promised me snow but it's icy rain so far :( )

Went to amend.

With West Ham, it seems the coach left his two best players on the bench, which was wank, because it meant that he was ready to throw the game and move on to the other one. I see the strategy, but... that lack of ambition is telling.

Southampton can start building on their momentum now, although Everton isn't doing well at the mo :*(

I think that that's always a terrible idea. For the team morale because now they know that they are still miles away from the Chelsea's level and for the players who would relish a chance to compete against the best team in competition this year. Must be extremely frustrating for an ambitious player.

Everton is really struggling, I don't really know why, they should be able to do better.

I just looked it up and Southampton faces Chelsea, Arsenal and United next so they use a bit of momentum. If they get out of that run relatively unharmed, they will finish high enough, I think.

I never understand the scheduling. I'm used to a fixture list that is the same in the first and second half of the season.

Nice to see that shade of yellow winning on the pitch jesscp December 27 2014, 11:47:40 UTC
Looking at you here Spurs and yes, I hope you felt my shade there Dortmund ;) I didn't realise Liverpool wore yellow too! I think I prefer the Spurs and Dortmund yellow though - yellow just doesn't go with red stripes. Fashion police segment over ( ... )

Yes, Liverpool in yellow has been the second colour since 2005. Was ugly then (even with Adidas) uglier even now. I do like Tottenham's yellow kit (designed by underarmour, iirc), it's really lovely.

Cheers for the correction. West Ham and West Brom- gahhh, I have no excuse for getting them mixed up, forgive? Have amended now.

Sanchez- dang, he just loves the space that the PL gives him. He really just keeps going, no? After that penalty kick, he just set off running. My only bear is that he tries to appeal to the referees too much. Leave that ish in Spain and La Liga, lad.

Tottenham and Manchester United sounds like a nice game! Both teams are on a tear, and Tottenham seems to be getting that positional discipline Pottechino bangs on about. I wish their defence was a bit stronger, but whatever to do?

I'll gird my loins for LFC.

Oooh enjoy your party! At your house, then? Or going out? I have some knitting to sit and finish. This wip is six years old. I shit you not.

Yeah, the yellow and red doesn't go at all, I don't like it. Yeah the Tottenham kit is quite nice, not massively skin tight but not really baggy, it just looks right on the players.

Sanchez is like a duracell bunny, he just seems to be everywhere. The refs here are such a bunch of arseholes, are they more lenient in La Liga?!

I really don't like Man Utd, mostly because my best friend supports them and she NEVER. SHUTS. UP. Anyone would think she was actually Sir Alex the way she goes on! I think I would root for Spurs in that game, but Man Utd are getting better though? Who knows! Sounds like a good game anyway.

No it's a friends party, so going out! Hoping the rain/snow holds off! Wow, six years, what are you knitting?! A new player for LFC?!

LOL, the English refs are from the viewpoint of the game being freeflowing, so they tend not to be too fussed about the physical part of the game (to a point, to be fair) whereas with La Liga referees they do tend to blow their whistles more (and award free kicks), hence the whole 'positional' vs 'physical' attributes that come into play. this blog has a good overview of stuff. Out of date, but info is infoBut you get the feeling that with La Liga the players can appeal the referee more and the referee will be swayed (especially if they are Real Madrid ( ... )

A bit on Ha-Mez:

James Rodríguez has been named the 2014 Sports Personality of the Year by America's International Sports Press Association. The Colombian footballer played a key role in Colombia's World Cup campaign in Brazil, as well as scoring the goal of the tournament against Uruguay and winning the Golden Boot as the tournament's top scorer, with six goals.

And those Cavani rumors just never die, ugh.
