Oh, Horse-Face. He's a nice guy and all, but he's getting a little cocky, isn't he? I know he said it jokingly, but he shouldn't shoot his mouth off, IMO. Stuff like this always comes back and bites you in the ass (which is why I'm worried about Arsenal against Monaco in the CL :/).

This isn't great, but it's still better than Chelsea's hilarious headers and wallpapers.

Alexis and Benzema share the same birthday!

Re: Chicha. Still not clear or likely that we'll keep him permanently after the season but really not surprising that we're honoring a one-year loan deal.

As for FIFA... they're cool with transparency and accountability it seems as long as the public knows that there's nothing they can do about it anyway.

"the Argentine camp also described Pepe as a "violent" player." HAHA. He WAS a "violent" player but he's also the only center-back in La Liga right now who hasn't been booked for anything. Also I don't see what the big deal is with Sergio's quote? I mean, it's not any different from those American sports stars that thank God for their win after every game.

Interesting post as always. There is an interesting article in the flemish press today. They did a survey of 102 football players in belgium. They had an average netto monthly income of 8670 euros without bonusses. Lowest 750, the highest 36000. One in four! Reports having financial problems. Reasons: spending too much, bad financial investmenfs because of bad financial advice and gambling.

I can believe that. I read that 25 percent of German professional players are broke after ending their career. Only ten percent are set financially for life. And of course many of them haven't learned anything else and find it surprisingly difficult to earn a living. That's one reason why there was a lot of criticism when Schalke advised Julian Draxler to quit school even though he would have had the ability to do his Abitur.

That's all very true. It's a shame tbh. Justine Henin for example also lost half of her money after a divorce and bad investments.
But it's not that surprising if you see that they sign a new contract that is kinda okay and they buy a new expensive car. Lack of education is also a problem. And the shady figures that become suddenly quite interested in you when you make a lot of money and don't know what to do with it.

A massive problem is that those players are easy targets for match-fixing people.

I think that clubs should protect these youngsters better. For example in Anderlecht, they can suspend you if your grades aren't good. But they should also make sure that the players get good financial advice so that they don't spend everything on friends, parties and expensive clothing.
