bale is probably just spiting crispy because he's jealous of james. lol

edit: also, that is great of dortmund. maybe that's why they aren't scoring, they're too nice. they should be more aggressive! lol

He has been fielding criticism as of late. As in, he doesn't get himself involved in games like he should do, and how he plays off to the side, not passing, blah blah blah. I don't really follow Real Madrid news, but I do remember that striking me as odd.

With Bale and Ronaldo on the field, the team is mostly guaranteed enough goals to win most games but we played our best games when he was injured (at least that's my personal opinion). He will always try to force his way through goal and score, which is nice. But the football with Isco in place of him is more fluent.

You're not alone in your sentiment, especially with the Isco love, which is why people were floating rumours re: Bales place. But Real Madrid paid more for Bale than Ronaldo (as quiet as that is kept) so he has to play. But yeah, I did notice the full throated approval when Isco played in his place, and now with Jese coming back... interesting times.

Liverpool... T_T

Not sure if this has been shared, but I just found this gem in The Guardian's The Fiver from last month:

"I read with interest Brendan Rodgers’ analysis that there’s an ‘underlying issue’ explaining Daniel Sturridge’s chronic-knack-knack, and decided to track down an article I’d read some time ago on ‘broken heart syndrome’. Apparently the odds of a debilitating health setback are significantly increased for some six months after one’s long-term partner ‘moves on’; before then returning to pre-tragedy levels. Some figures, in case you’re not convinced: you-know-whose departure to Barça announced: 17 July 2014. Sturridge’s predicted return to training: ‘in the new year’. Liverpool’s mid-January fixture: Aston Villa, 17 January 2015. Heard it here first etc" - Ben Jones.

The take away is that Sturridge and Suarez got on, but they never really had a warm relationship. With Suárez not having such a good time in La Liga right now... well.

I'm not doing the news round-ups anymore, since I figure it's pointless to have double of such posts, but I found this interesting - Mou on Lampard's departure: "It’s his life, nothing to do with us. He left Chelsea as a free agent and chooses his life, we can’t complain about it. That’s football. My view is that when you want to look forward, look for the future and have people like Fabregas, Matic and Oscar, which are the next 10 years of the club, not the next year, that we made the right decision. You can argue ‘you have John Terry and Didier Drogba’. Different. Didier Drogba is a striker that is coming to help and support. John Terry is the best central defender in English football and it doesn’t matter how old he is. The nucleus of the team that has to be developed, if you have a big player like Frank it would stop the development of the other guys." What do you guys think ( ... )

If I'm overstepping bounds, I'll gladly step back, and stick to the Champions League posts, it's allllll good. I'd hate to ruin a happy comm. Half the times the reason I do these posts, because I see a picture I want to share, and it seems odd to just... post one picture or one article, so I trawl. But again, I can just stick to the CL or Europa posts. No problem. :D ( ... )

What? No, it's all good! I was just explaining why I'm posting about the news in your post.

I know it's early in the season, but RM is really on a run right now, I have already lowered my expectations for La Liga. :/ I just hope they don't win the CL, too.

IDK, ever since RVP changed his hair to grey I've been inexplicably attracted to him, ha.

This. It's the same for me. He was a cute little chipmunk before but the grey hair has done wonders for him.

on one hand - I can tell Rodgers is failing and failing miserably

On another - he's still better off than Daglish? And he came SO FREAKING CLOSE last year idk. I feel like this is less a case of bad management as that Liverpool really needs some strong and sturdy players and the Suarez transfer makes a huge hole in the creative output in front of goal.

Aside from defense tactically Liverpool isn't terrible - they just need a creative striker and someone other than Skrtl to save the back line.

tl;dr sacking Rodgers seems like getting a scapegoat and doesn't fix the larger roblems in the team. I'd say give Rodgers at least another transfer window to see what he does before sending him out the door.

The thing is, Rodgers has had three years and £225 million at his disposal to build his own team, and the rest of it. To be fair, his target was getting LFC into top 4 for CL in three years, and with Suárez using LFC as a shop window for any team to whisk him away, Rodgers benefited from that Suárez's work ethic and the fact that LFC just out dazzled and bulldozed the their opponents' defence, so Mingolet and our shaky defence wasn't a problem then because we had players who could put it away. Rodgers bangs on about 'free flowing' Spanish footie, but forgets that the Spanish teams have a good midfield, technical in set pieces, and everything LFC isn't right now ( ... )

The word is, Rodgers expected another year from Suárez, but Suárez was looking at Juventus, Arsenal, etc, and clawing at his contract (he and Rodgers had words in the media), especially when LFC didn't trigger the release when Arsenal stumped up the money to release Suárez from contract (back when Suárez was valued at £40 million). The fact that Suárez asked Daglish to present his aware for goalscorer of the year and wished that Stevie could have come with, says a LOT about the relationship (or non relationship) between Suárez and Rodgers, tbh ( ... )

Suárez, toothless in La Liga uh oh

That headline! It made me think he bit someone again! Haha

Also can't say that I feel bad for the guy under performing, though.

And aww, that David De Gea meme is making me nostalgic of Ochoa last WC.

The thing is, it's not as if he isn't trying. His work ethic is still good, and for someone absent from the game for four months, he looks sharp, no cobwebs at all. But--- Enrique is still tinkering.
