Erin Gloria Ryan -A preschool in Sweden is doing its part to make Tucker Carlson's bowtie spin around in shock and surprise.
CNN reports that the Egalia preschool in Stockholm will eliminate gender specific pronouns, and refer to the children present as "friends" rather than "boys" or "girls." Also on the chopping block?

man, for an allegedly feminist website, that is some really nasty and snide reporting. then again, what else would i expect from jezebel.

also, according to one of the commenters "my friends" is not an altogether unusual form of address for children in sweden...can anyone here attest to that?

the today show website has an article on the subject that's more comprehensive, meaning it actually features quotes from the preschool in question. plus it has maybe the most adorable photo i have ever seen:

also, nothing that i've read suggests to me that the school won't educate its students about the existence of gender -- given young children's propensity for spontaneous nudity, i imagine they would have to discuss why some people's bodies look different. if i'm reading correctly, the school would just decline to identify any of the children by gender.

Agreed. It's virtually impossible to raise a child without gendered expectations unless the majority of your community is doing it too.
