I've got this weird physical reaction right now where my body keeps wanting to laugh even though this isn't funny.

ETA: I intend to sign the petition.

However, I've always been under the impression that online petitions/e-mails still aren't that effective a way of gaining the attention of public offices/politicians/corporations/etc. From what I understand - and people who do this thing more often, please contradict - paper letters, because of the effort involved on both sides, make a bigger impression, and phone calls the biggest.

Frankly, the idea of calling up a police department that harbors a rapist and then tries to cover up that rape makes me feel sick to my stomach, but I'm going to try to give it a go tomorrow.

Phone calls are definitely the biggest. If their aides get ten phone calls in a day on one topic, they're required to write down a report about it.
