what the fuck. what the goddamn fuck. i don't have words. i have a lump in my throat, and tears in my eyes, and a sudden fear of leaving my locked apartment, but i don't have any words that would make sense.

jesus motherfucking christ, i hope something really, really horrible and vile happens to the officers involved here. i honestly do and i don't fucking care if that's wrong of me.

that poor woman. oh god.

This is vile.

Blue and Gause were also quoted by the victim as saying she didn't "look like a rape victim," and "you don't have a case because rape victims be balled up in a corner or scared to talk."

WTF? Have they somehow missed every sexual assault seminar ever?

Somehow I doubt it's a lack of education that's the problem here.

Not the problem, but between this and them somehow not getting that non-consensual sex = rape, they seem to not have the first clue about sexual assault. I mean, they say this as part of bullying her to sign something they think will protect their fellow cop, but which actually says 'he raped me, but it wasn't rape'. As far as coverups go, they're doing it wrong.

Frankly, I think the officers show a great deal of knowledge about how to operate in a rape culture that is extremely hostile to women who want to press charges, particularly against men in positions of authority. They told the woman in question that no one would believe her because she didn't look like a victim - I don't think that's because they're uneducated about the universality of rape in this society, I think it's because they were well aware that many women who try to press charges or who testify at trial are ignored, dismissed, or punished because society does not think they fit the part.

hey um... this might be annoying and i might be totally wrong but could you maybe not use that icon on a post like this? i don't know the context, obviously, but it's making me uncomfortable in conjunction with the subject matter and stuff.
