woooo grayson \o/

and it's interesting that ellen has her own record label now. but ellen seems to have a knack for spotting talent so she could give a lot of deserving people a good chance at fame and such.

I am reminded of the Gross Failbucket 'discovered' by Perez who we had to suffer on idol the other week.

I am now like, JUST STOP LOOKING.

That's best for us and for them, obvs.

Lol, he didn't even discover him. He snagged him from a failed boy band.

And I think Ellen is better at spotting talent.

I think record labels and companies are going to be a thing of the past. ANYONE can sell to millions of people these days via iTunes and get exposure and marketing via youtube, twitter, facebook and other social media. The days of needing a record deal to distribute and promote your albums are coming to an end I think.

Ellen is always so positive and I love that about her. Especially on Idol when she tells the contestents that there really good and its only just the beginning and that bigger things are to come.

But some part of me thinks that she's a little nieve and doesn't understand how hard it is to break into the music industry. Just because your on the show and you've gotten to Hollywood and you have a good voice doesn't mean you've made it. You have to have a fan base and you have to stand out. Look at how many people who have been on Idol and look at how many people from Idol who have actually been successful.

Good for her though that she's doing this. Greyson is a talented kid and I hope he does well. I can totally see her signing some of the people from Idol.

tl;dr

I don't think it's naivety, I just think she wants to encourage them not to give up so easily. I mean, she wanted to be a comic (and actor) for a long time before she could catch a break. And plenty of successful musicians/artists had to work at it for years. I think all she means is that you shouldn't give up just because you don't win a reality show.

She's been through the TV industry, which is at least as hard to break into as music. I'm sure she's not that naive. She may have a skewed perspective, having had the luck of huge success, but she did her time as a stand-up comic back in the day and worked her way up.
