There weren't many places in the city Rikku felt safe enough to go without disguising her hair color or at least her eyes. But this little bakery, tucked way back in a corner of the city that not many people ventured to, was one of those places. The shop's owner, a grandmotherly old woman who always seemed to have something sweet conveniently left lying out whenever Rikku entered, was neutral and trustworthy with most everything in general ( ... )

She saw the other girl waving and headed her direction. The place was nice. She liked the atmosphere of it, very homey. Yuffie assumed that it was a safe place to talk if it had been chosen as a meeting location, and the fact that the smell was wonderful was a definite plus.

"Well, had to be fashionably late. It's not the "in" thing to be on time you know." Yuffie grinned at Rikku's comment, her voice laced with good natured sarcasm. She conveniently left out part about the having problems finding the bakery.

Yuffie took the seat and instantly made herself comfortable, crossing her legs and leaning on the table.

"Now to the first order of business. Since you know the place, what would you suggest I get?" Yuffie asked, gesturing to the counter.

Her grin only widened as the other thief took a seat and cracked a joke at her own timing. Oh yes, they were most definitely going to get along. "I must've missed that lesson," she volleyed, leaning back in her chair and licking her fingers. The feather earrings she wore swished with the movement, and the sun reflected off her bright yellow nail-polish as she inspected her new acquaintance.

She was built like a thief-all lithe and small, much like Rikku herself. She could be a valuable ally and probably a kick-ass partner on a heist. Though, the engineer thought her style of dress was a bit too modest, which wasn't surprising given her own notable lack of clothing. But then, not everyone had been raised in a community with such a unique sense of fashion.

The young blonde gestured lazily towards the glass display case across the room. "The pie here is delicious," she said easily. "And so are the cinnamon rolls." As if to illustrate this point, she ripped off another chunk of the pastry before her and popped it into her mouth.

Yuffie was enjoying the girl's company already. Friendly banter always was a way to make her day and it was a common thread between the friends she had that she was able to joke with them ( ... )
