Kai wandered her way along the river's edge, slowly picking her way across the dark rough sand and though the stray patches of bent, scrubby grass. She was, in all honesty, quite anxious to meet the boy called Blues. After the months she'd spent in Reggio Calabria, most of her time was spent with Prosciutto and Risotto, or else running into people like Gavin. It was new, the prospect of being around somebody her age, and the thought made her giddy and nervous. She was most nervous perhaps, about herself, and whether or not she would make a good impression. For all her simple strangeness, Kai knew that there was something about her, something that put most people at unease.

She found him standing on the edge of the beach, right where the river emptied out into the sea. "Hello," she said quietly, approaching him much like a skittish cat would. She smiled, very small and softly at him, her hands fidgeting with a red hat in her hands. "Hello, hello. You are Blues, yes?"

"That's me." Blues said, smirking a bit, and lifting up his sunglasses as a small act of trust, if nothing else.

The most apparent thing was the height difference. Kai was tall and had long, long legs, whereas Blues was definitely on the short side. He had to crane his neck back a bit to look up at her in the eyes.

Still, it didn't bother Blues, and he continued on as he was. He turned some, looking straight out into the water, feeling the sand burn slightly underneath his fake exterior.

"Come out to the water a lot, Kai? What do you like so much about it?"

Kai waggled her head noncommittally as she spoke, her eyes lifted upwards as if the answer was written on the sky. "Somtimes, yes. Other times, no. When work is too much, Kai does not get to come. Though she wants to, very much, all the time." She paused, looking back down at Blues. There was something about the boy, perhaps his smallness, the paleness of his skin, which seemed to put Kai at ease, soothing some of the nervousness she had felt on her way to their meeting. With a small nod, she motioned to the water, and taking her first hesitant step towards it, waited for Blues to follow.

"Kai likes the water cause it reminds her of home. Of Nariko, who showed us the wide world. Here, everything is light." She paused, stealing a small glances over at the boy, curious about his expression, the way he moved. Carefully, she asked him a question. "Blues said that he had not yet seen the world. It it true? Does he like the ocean, same as Kai?"

"I know of the ocean, Kai. Like I said, I haven't gotten to see much, yet. Most of my life has been inside. Learned to swim on a pool."

Blues walked forward, following the girl down the sand and towards the water. Blues expression was something of a monotone one. He didn't smile wide, or frown. It was dead still, for the most part, merely taking in the world as it was.

"Where was your home, Kai?" He asked, as they got closer to being right into the sea.
