Ken pulled up to his bosses house. He paused for a minute after he dismounted, waiting for Kia to catch up. Ken had tried not to loose him in the traffic, but with bikes it was harder to look back and make sure. To pass the time, he rummaged around in his saddle bags, bringing out the containers of goodies, and the casserole he had made to help out. He was rather proud of these cookies.

He was really looking forward to tonight. It would be nice to have a dinner with everyone, and he'd get to introduce Kia around. They hadn't been able to meet any of Ken's other friends for various reasons, but at least they would get to meet Kia.

Kia had no idea what, if anything, he should bring, so he'd come without any food to contribute. It hadn't been too hard to stay near Ken along the drive, but he suddenly felt more nervous than he had been since he heard this morning's orders. He wouldn't be able to stay too long because of what he had to do. But until then, he'd try to stay calm and normal.

As he got off his bike, he draped his arm around Ken's shoulders lightly and smiled warmly.

Ken looked back and grinned at him, shoving one of the containers of cookies into Kia's hands. "Don't look so worried, Sogyo doesn't bite." He said with a laugh. "He's a really nice guy, I think you guys will get along just fine." Ken added, pulling away so he could walk towards the door.

"Just don't say he looks old." He said in a stage whisper, knocking at the door.

Kia took the cookie container and kept smiling. "I've never been to any dinner like this before," he admitted. Sure, he'd been to formal dinners from time to time with clients, but those were usually Louise's territory. And certainly nothing he'd done had included such an extended concept of family.

"I won't. That would be pretty rude."

Lulu arrived with ice cream as promised--both vanilla and chocolate to appeal to both sides of the crowd. After all, she had to sweeten everybody up when she introduced her fiance to her surrogate family, and make sure Soiree wouldn't be too nervous.

"Point me to the freezer," she called cheerfully as she made her entrance, "Wouldn't want to end up with milkshakes for dessert!"

Just like she said, Kiyone was there early to set up. She was up early to make a simple cherry pie before heading over. It had taken her a couple tries the night before to get it right, and she hoped that it would go well with everyone. Her other addition to the food table was a katsu dish she had been saving for today.

Hearing Lulu, she poked her head out of the kitchen and smiled. “Over this way,” she called.

"Mmm..." Lulu hummed, following her nose and Kiyone's summons to the kitchen, "It smells fantastic in here." She was very glad to be over the 'morning sickness' that had seemed to strike her at any given hour in the past few months and she could fully enjoy the dinner.

Making room for her confection in the freezer, she looked around, smiling as she took in the sense of homeyness about the place. "Well, it looks like my beau is a little bashful at the moment, but is there anything else you could use an extra pair of hands with in the meantime?"

Kairi had arrived a bit earlier than she needed, just to make sure that her dishes, traditional Dampfnudeln with Vanillesoße and cherries, and Japanese pork buns, made it there while they were still warm. And of course, there was enough for everyone, and then some. It took all she had to keep Demyx's fingers out of the food, eventually getting her to make cookies for him and Saix before she left, so she was more than a little exhausted by the time she got there.

Sighing softly, she leaned against the wall, eyes shut for a moment before she looked over at Ulquiorra, who had arrived with her. She took the moment to look him over, noting that he gave off a slightly uncomfortable vibe. Or maybe that was her, feeling a bit uncomfortable for him. After all, having invited a Monacello to a gathering where there'd be a few AMC members was unnerving for her - he just had to have been a little uncomfortable ( ... )

Ulquiorra followed after Kairi, shuffling along behind her until she stopped by the wall. he had his hands in his pockets, and had been staring down at the ground for most of the walk. He was wearing his normal nice pants and a suit jacket, the only change being that this time he wasn't wearing a tie. He just had a simple dress shirt with the top two buttons undone. He signed a little ( ... )

"Nope," she replied quickly, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek before moving to set the food on the table. It was kind of upsetting to herself, that she was so nervous about this whole thing. This was, after all, her third family. And they said that the third time's the charm, right?

Besides, Kairi didn't have the stamina to keep worrying the way she was. As long as she was able to stay near Ulquiorra to keep her own nerves calm, she'd be fine. All smiles like she usually was, for sure.

It was strange. Sometimes, the look on Ulquiorra's face saddened her, as if the markings on his face were especially vibrant enough to draw her attention to them, his eyebrows furrowed in just the slightest, and the corners of his lips seemingly pulled down further to the point where he actually looked sad. And other times, it calmed her when she was nervous or especially jumpy, as it was just something she could count on to always see, like a comfort that would always be there, no matter what sort of craziness or event was happening ( ... )

"Only if you say so..."

Ulquiorra blinked once, then twice at the sudden kiss. Kairi never stopped surprising him with random acts of affection. He was not the type to ever do anything like that in return, though. He just frowned a little, upset that she had been a little too fast for him.

The dark haired man looked around the house as Kairi arranged things on the table. Yes, he was plotting possible escape routes. She didn't see it, but he was wringing his hands. He probably would not have been nervous in the slightest if he was meeting her family for the first time and they had no AMC connections. There was nothing like "meeting the parents" when they would probably want to arrest him by tomorrow (if they knew who it was that wa going to plant that bomb). It made him entirely uncomfortable. He hadn't even met them yet ( ... )
