Re: SECTOR 3; OTHER BLOCKED OFF AREA resolute_edge November 17 2008, 03:26:59 UTC
This was really not what Zoro needed right now. First of all, he was trying to stay undercover. Caiman identified him and Zoro really, really, really didn't want to be caught by the police. So it was settled. He was lying low. Go to a motel under a false name, maybe, but he wasn't looking to get out of the city; his lack of faith in the judicial system assured him that it wasn't necessary ( ... )

((I am SO sorry, guys, LJ is sending my notifications like 5 hours from when I SHOULD be getting them. I am seriously annoyed and feel bad at taking forever :( Forgive me))

"Not well enough to navigate in the dark," Lauren replied idly, glancing up at the starry sky that could be seen through one of the jagged holes in what previously was the ceiling. "I don't suppose anyone has a flashlight?"

Sighing and tossing some dust-ridden hair from her face, Lauren took a deep breath. "I don't know about you lot, but I'm not going to sit around and hope a rescue brigade shows up." Walking across to the opposite wall of where she came in, Lauren narrowed her eyes in thought, trying to remember which direction the damn entrance had been, hand lifting to her forehead. Her head was so ridiculously disoriented now. "At any rate, if we keep moving, we're bound to either find others, or a way out."

Zoro cursed quietly underneath his breath, regarding the crumbling walls sourly. "I doubt the police're even tryin' to get near this thing right now." They didn't do jack shit. His opinion was a bit tarnished, considering he was the guy cops went to to ask to hit off this guy or this guy or that guy for whatever reason, but Jesus, with all this open hostility going on, you'd think that they'd catch someone. There was the possibility that they did do shit and just hid it, but Zoro doubted it ; if they actually caught anybody, they'd probably flaunt it like hell ( ... )

While they were talking, Ken investigated the other corners of the room. He made a face at a bit of finger that was sticking out. "Poor bastard..." He murmured to himself.

"Hey Zoro, don't be so rude, we need her right now." He said, turning around with an admonishing look, which sorta twitched at the lit match. "Sorry about him Miss, we're all a little on edge now." Ken said, hoping Lauren wasn't offended. Co-operation was what they needed right now...

"Besides, I think I can hear sirens."

Lauren scoffed from where she stood, partly in dull amusement over Zoro's clear dislike towards her own employer, and partly in agreement of the statement. While she was certain AMC sergeants would be looking into what just went on, it was not likely that they would come storming in here looking for survivors. They were never really the 'act first, think later' sort of corporation.

... Woman? The hell? Did the explosion somehow send them back to the stone-age?

Lauren's jaw clenched at hearing him address her, and she inclined her head towards him slowly, the expression on her face showing her distaste for him at the moment. "It's Lauren," she replied, biting back any of the further comments she greatly wanted to add in there. Ken was right, they needed cooperation. Sighing under her breath, she let it pass and focused on the lit match. They actually had some source of light and heat, that was a lovely start ( ... )

"Lauren, then," Zoro replied, either the bite in her voice escaping his notice or the fact that she was less than happy didn't faze him at all. The chatter about sirens did, however; if the AMC got here, what would happen? Was he a suspect? Would he be taken away? Fuck. He'd fight if he had to, but it really wasn't a desirable option, not in his condition ( ... )

Ken sighed and went to help Zoro out. Its not that he thought Lauren was any weaker then any guy, its just that Zoro's tone of voice could have been taken the wrong way due to the tensions in the air, that's really all he was getting at. Oh well, no use talking about it now.

Thankfully, he was stronger then his thin, frame would suggest. Thank you hauling stuff at work. "Are you sure building an actual fire in here is a good idea? It's a pretty enclosed space in here, and although I can sorta see gaps here and there, who knows whats in the building material that may be flammable." Truth to tell, he didn't like the idea one bit, but he helped with the containment pit anyways.

Lauren was still searching through bits and pieces of debris, busying her mind with thinking of the best options to bide their time. Despite the adrenaline, she knew she was injured and was beginning to shiver.

"I'm open to any other ideas," she said, glancing from one man to the other. "Look, even if someone arrives right now, it's going to take at least an hour for them to even reach us, not to mention all the wreckage they have to sort through to find everyone else - assuming others are alive." Dropping another brick down, she straightened to catch her breath before continuing. "It's almost December, we have no power, and it's night. Not to mention the light, but we could use a source of heat, as well. As for staying away from anything flammable, that's what the concrete is for."

Crouching down, she moved the pieces found into as close of a shape of a square as they were going to get, stacking then to form four walls.

It took Zoro a moment, but he finally got fed up with trying to move debris and hold onto the match at the same time. He settled for clutching at the very tip of it between his teeth. A sturdy, square wall was soon constructed (and how Zoro wished it was as easy to break the walls down as it was the build them up) and Zoro stood back, regarding it with some interest.

Managing to speak clearly even with his teeth clenched, he said, "Then we can't wait for a rescue team." Even if they wanted to, Zoro wouldn't. He had to get out of here and from the looks of things, the subtle tremble of Lauren's hand as she lifted yet another brick, they couldn't stand being in here longer than necessary.

"I'm all for that. So I guess its digging then." Ken said with a sigh. "Which way are we going to go though? Door? Window? Other sections?" He knew they'd have to agree, or else it was just going to take longer.

Seeing the square pretty much complete, he busied himself with trying to get a few of the table cloths dis-tangled from the wreckage, not to mention his rather squashed coat. There was the small mercy that he managed not to rip it.
