Was the ride over with Dexter awkward? Possibly. Probably. There would be only one thing worse than the silence with Lisa...and that would be the conversation. Namely the usual topic. But you wouldn't be able to tell it by Lisa. Her expression was serious and slightly withering. And it was probably that look that got her past the guards moreso than any badge ( ... )

Dexter, after having pulled out his equipment and gear from the trunk of his car, moved to quietly close the doors and lock them. With his badge around his neck and his hand full, he crouched easily, swinging himself down under the tape that sounded the scene and following after Lisa, his eyes half on the ground, sweeping it for any of the initial response-team's signs, notations, anything.

He'd be taking a closer look at the details they'd marked out.

The man lifted his eyes, the vaguely distracted look snapping off of his face once the man that was standing in the midst of the scene. From his confident, aware, and possibly slightly tired stance and his body language, this had to be Ishida.

Dexter moved to set his things down, striding forward to pull even with Lisa and, upon hearing her remark, lifted his brows with a pleasant sort of smile at the so-called rookie.

Two more members of the team arrived not long after he did. Good. They were prompt. Again, he was unsure of the young scientist, and the tardiness was doing nothing to reassure him, but he could hope, at least, there was a good reason for this. In the meantime, there was no point wasting investigation time waiting for one member.

Turning to them, Ishida let a small glint of a smile play off his lips, one that, after he had viewed such destruction, was hard-pressed to actually reach his eyes. He extended his hand first to the girl who had spoken up-- this one, too, had powers, though from a very different program. She would be especially useful if-- no, once they reached the stage where they could apprehend those responsible ( ... )

Lisa accepted his hand but no smile touched her own lips. But she did offer him a nod when he said her name. She stepped slightly to the side so that he could shake Dexter's hand next.

"No need as far as I'm concerned." Her eyes flickered over Ishida, matching up physical details with what she'd read in his file. "We shouldn't waste time." Lisa was already looking back over her shoulder at the crime scene, the real reason they were all there. "The sooner we solve this, the sooner I can return to my bookstore." Even if Kensei was probably doing just fine on his own.

Dexter's grip was firm, but not crushing, and his hand was warm.

Once he released Ishida's hand, he took a wide-spanned, three-second look around the scene, shaking his head after his commanding officer asked about comments or questions.

"I don't really have any questions. But do you two want to start checking things out on your own first, and then have me call you over if I find something...or do you want to stick with me as I find evidence?"

He blinked, looking from Lisa to Ishida. Compared to the two of them, Dexter looked quite different, with his light-colored hair and his slightly tanned skin, the light blue button-up and his khakis. He was by no means light-hearted, but he stood out a little, it was true.
