It was getting late. Gin took a quick glance at his wristwatch as he sped through the Reggio Calabria streets, snaking his way through side streets and back alleys. There was a small game he usually played when he drove, where he tried to reach point A from point B without stepping on the break, but this wasn't one of those times. He was too distracted and not in the mood, and just the thought of Debitt's earlier backtalk made Gin bristle, clicking his tongue in irritation. If there was one thing he disliked, it was soldiers who didn't know their place, who talked out of the turn, and who lacked the self-control to allow themselves to be commanded once in a while.
Outside the car, the city's evening lights streamed past as Gin made note of one of the turns. Just around the corner and he'd arrive at Kristoph Gavin's tea shop, where hopefully Rhode would be outside waiting for him.
