WHO: Gokudera 59ing and Reborn arcabalenoborn WHAT: Greiving together and moving on. WHERE: Reborn's Mansion in Reborn's Private Study WHEN: Middle of the night on Day 103
Gokudera never really slept any more. He just worked on explosives or classwork until he eventually passed out until he had to get back up for the next day.
When Reborn knocked on his door, he was building sticks of dynamite, carefully wrapping the fuses in tape to secure them to the blasting cap. Five second fuses, Gokudera lacked the patience for anything less. If he held them four four, the recipient of the stick would be a sure-kill.
Then someone knocked, but not just anyone, his boss. At this time at night, Gokudera's heart skipped a beat- what now? Who just died? Making a sigh, disgusted with himself for feeling that anxiety, he got up and pulled the door to his room open.
Reborn stood there and murmered, "You aren't sleeping?" An eyebrow was raised for a moment in mild surprise. "If you're not asleep this makes things easier, come with me." He turned and moved off expecting the boy to follow him. His word in the mansion was law, and Gokudera was living there so he didn't need to ask.
Reborn didn't head to the big study, where everyone seemed to congrigate these days. He headed instead back into his wing and towards his office, it was easier that way for him to actually talk with Gokudera about private matters. About Bianchi.
Moving into the room, there was a long couch and a few book cases, laptops and everything else that made up a good office. But, there was also a nice glass pitcher of ice water from one of the servants left there and changed by the maids that seemed to know how to stay out of sight from their masters.
Gokudera abandoned his work without a moment's hesitation. It'd be waiting for him when he came back. He wordlessly followed Reborn, a little surprised when they went off from the usual path and into a place he hadn't been before.
Taking a quick glance around the office, he took a seat when he was told to with a nod. He was bracing himself for the worst- but the worst thing left was anything happening to Tsuna. His heart sank instantly when he considered that possibility. Anxiously, he waited for Reborn to begin his topic.
Lowering his head he spoke to words, "I'm sorry." He let that hang in the air for a moment as he tried to come up with the words that he could tell Gokudera, but nothing came to mind. For once he was at a loss of how to truly comfort someone hurting. It was because he was hurting as well that he couldn't truly provide comfort for the other male.
"Don't promise such a thing." He told Gokudera rather sternly, "While I appreciate the effort, you're still young and have a full life a head of you." Reborn always talked as if he was an old man, but it was not unfounded. He had seen a lot and done a whole multitude of tasks in his twenty seven years.
"I'm tired Gokudera. Overall I am just so tired that I can hardly see straight anymore." He rubbed at his forehead as he rubbed at his shoulder. "Also I didn't go to the hospital when I should have, so my strength is not up to par." He hadn't said anything to even Tieria because of the way they were not really talking at the moment.
"Sir... with all due respect, isn't it important you take care of yourself as well?" Gokudera asked cautiously. He couldnt begin to imagine what would happen if anything happened to Reborn. He imagined Tsuna and Syaoran getting eaten alive for their blood.... Axel, god only knows now that Lockon was in the hospital. Tiera didnt have the political sway Reborn had.
Ontop of it, that capo that seemed friendly towards Reborn had been "taken care of".
"If anything happens to you- how are we gonna get by?" He asked seriously. If Reborn could gamble with his life, that meant he hopefully had a plan for the worst case scenario.
"Honestly? You all will be fine. If anything happens I thoroughly expect Tsuna to disappear and you along with him. Understand? Tieria and the others will be fine, and so will Axel and Lockon and everyone that I am associated with. I am replaceable."
It was the hard truth. It wasn't like Reborn thought himself invincible, because he knew that he had made enemies and he also knew that they could replace him just as well. "Without kids or a family, I'm afraid my bloodline stops with me at any rate, so it's not like I have anything else to give but my life to the Vescovo name."

Gokudera also decided he hated conversations like this.
