Gokudera never really slept any more. He just worked on explosives or classwork until he eventually passed out until he had to get back up for the next day.

When Reborn knocked on his door, he was building sticks of dynamite, carefully wrapping the fuses in tape to secure them to the blasting cap. Five second fuses, Gokudera lacked the patience for anything less. If he held them four four, the recipient of the stick would be a sure-kill.

Then someone knocked, but not just anyone, his boss. At this time at night, Gokudera's heart skipped a beat- what now? Who just died? Making a sigh, disgusted with himself for feeling that anxiety, he got up and pulled the door to his room open.

"Sir?" He asked, giving Reborn a nod of respect.

Reborn stood there and murmered, "You aren't sleeping?" An eyebrow was raised for a moment in mild surprise. "If you're not asleep this makes things easier, come with me." He turned and moved off expecting the boy to follow him. His word in the mansion was law, and Gokudera was living there so he didn't need to ask.

Reborn didn't head to the big study, where everyone seemed to congrigate these days. He headed instead back into his wing and towards his office, it was easier that way for him to actually talk with Gokudera about private matters. About Bianchi.

Moving into the room, there was a long couch and a few book cases, laptops and everything else that made up a good office. But, there was also a nice glass pitcher of ice water from one of the servants left there and changed by the maids that seemed to know how to stay out of sight from their masters.

"Sit down. We need to talk."

Gokudera abandoned his work without a moment's hesitation. It'd be waiting for him when he came back. He wordlessly followed Reborn, a little surprised when they went off from the usual path and into a place he hadn't been before.

Taking a quick glance around the office, he took a seat when he was told to with a nod. He was bracing himself for the worst- but the worst thing left was anything happening to Tsuna. His heart sank instantly when he considered that possibility. Anxiously, he waited for Reborn to begin his topic.

Lowering his head he spoke to words, "I'm sorry." He let that hang in the air for a moment as he tried to come up with the words that he could tell Gokudera, but nothing came to mind. For once he was at a loss of how to truly comfort someone hurting. It was because he was hurting as well that he couldn't truly provide comfort for the other male.

"Sir- nothing else has happened, has it?" Gokudera asked when he couldn't take the dead air any longer. Please tell me we havent lost anyone else was what the boy's eyes were saying.

His heart was frozen in his chest, and he couldnt start to imagine being any more alone.

"Everyone is fine, Gokudera...Well not everyone. You're not fine." He told the boy finally looking at him. "You lost your sister and only had Tsuna there for you. I am sorry. I'm afraid that my mind was not clear and if I had been thinking clearly I would have taken care of you like I did Bianchi."

Looking at Gokudera the calm demeanor faultered for a moment. It was just a split second, but it showed even the perfect mafia man could have moments of doubt and sadness too. "Gokudera, I'm sorry that I didn't protect Bianchi better."

"It-" It happens? It was expected? Gokudera fell silent as he tried to sift though his feelings. He thought he had his sister back, and then she was gone again just as easily. He should have known it was too good to be true. Should he be angry about that? At who? At Reborn for not saving her somehow, or at himself for making Bianchi die by trying to be with her again.

"I know you did everything you should have done, Sir" Gokudera finally replied.

"Gokudera." Reborns voice was firm. "Don't try and lie to me it's easy to see the changing emotions on your face. Binachi often talked about you, and looking at you...I see that she was right. This is not something that happened because you came here." Finally he took a deep breath, "Bianchi wanted the best for you and I am going to make sure that I provide just that."

"I want you to know that I loved your sister in many ways. I distanced myself from her because I never wanted any harm to come to her and she understood that. This is as much for you as it is for myself when I say that we can't mope around anymore."

"Thank you, Sir" Gokudera nodded with understanding. "I know you did everything you were supposed to" He added.

He knew his sister had been crazy about Reborn. He hoped she knew why he brushed her off- but really it just reminded him that he picked a very hard world to live in. He should be used to this by now. If he just hardened his heart and accepted that everyone that comes into his life will eventually go out, he could get by without being affected.

That's what he thought anyway. There was just a little problem in that plan as it was already too late for two people to be included in it.

"I'll do anything- whatever it takes for you and Sawada, sir" He vowed. "I wont let the same thing happen to either of you"
