Hypothetical question...

If you said that your life was pretty close to being perfect, is that like an invitation for something to go wrong?

Thought so. Good thing it was just hypothetical.

you really think so?

Of course I do. See, it was even my first two words: "Hypothetical question." That voids any possibility of it being true.

YEAH.

Um...I would say so...

At least I can't say that I didn't see it coming.

Why do you ask? Are you having a particularly good time?

It just seems like things are on the upswing again after some pretty bad days.

...Can't say the same for everybody. Looks like some people's day just got a little worse.

I've learned a long time ago that things can be less than perfect or ideal and you still get hell for it. Honestly I look at it as being like the lottery of bad things. If you're lucky with bad luck, things can go REALLY bad.

If that makes sense.

Trust me, it does. You're talking to someone who thought she'd hit the jackpot of bad luck. But sooner or later...you get a turn at being UNlucky with bad luck.

When did I become an optimist...

I don't think I've ever talked to you, but you seem to be the type of person that would be nice to meet sooner or later. I'll have to keep that in mind...and yes you seem to be quite the optimist, but that's not a bad thing.

It's Elena. I run with a pack known as the Turks. And we're pretty handy to have as friends, if I do say so myself.

It seems to go by turns...

I'm pretty sure you're right about that.

Which means we've gotta take advantage of it while it lasts, right?

There is the philosophy that we tend to attract whatever we focus on--but superstitions aside, I've learned it's better to handle things as they come, and not waste time worrying and waiting for something to go wrong. "Roll with the punches." You know?

I happen to be enjoying a bit of calm in the eye of the storm, myself.

That's good advice. I try to do that too but...sometimes my emotions just get the better of me and I try to punch back. Even when I know it's pointless.

So you're okay right? With all this crazy stuff that's going on?

Sometimes, but not always.

"Sometimes" is good enough for me!
