[Inmate Filter]

It's curious how many Wardens don't seem to be the morally sound individuals I imagined they were. I have to wonder... What really divides us at all? How does one choose who needs redemption and who gets to do the redeeming?

[Private to Bela]

I wonder if I might pick your brain about something...

this redemption stuff is whack yo, uniting the masses, plotting plotting plotting

It's a very fine line in some cases. After all, some of the wardens used to be inmates. At least two that I'm aware of.

So it's really just a matter of perspective. And we're expected to adhere to people who could very well be in our positions and occasionally have been? What makes them so much better?

I really don't have an answer for that. As far as I can see many of the roles could be reversed very easily.

Perspective, indeed, is an important factor.

There seems to be a significant numbers of what I'd consider criminals on both sides, if you're asking for my judgement. It seems incredibly arbitrary, but I'd say some of the inmates deserve their position. And some of the wardens don't.

If I had to re-organise things.

You wouldn't know anything of morality.

I know of criminality.

I also never claimed that I was one of the inmates who didn't deserve it. I think you are, incidentally.

You've committed it yourself.

Don't talk about me like that. I already know I'm a moral man.

Hardly any of the wardens are morally sound. My warden is one of very few. His wife is another, Donny, and Martha Jones.

The others are by no means an example to their inmates.

It begs the question then of what the point of it all is. If everything is this unstructured, then who amongst the Wardens can even claim they have a right to judge us?

Exactly! They claim to be fair and have our interests in mind but they have more prejudices than we do!

Indeed. And worst still, they can barely organize themselves into a cohesive unit. They're all working towards different goals, even as they act like they're working for our best interests.

There's no rhyme or reason to it. They came here of their own volition. We weren't given a choice. That's the only difference between us.

Far as I can tell, the ones that aren't good made a deal of some kind instead of dying. That might be the only difference.

That's the most sensible thing I've heard thus far. It still begs the question of what right they have, but at least it explains why they believe they do.

"Right" is all about contradiction. When there's not enough people to argue, then those people forfeit those rights. It's how Hitler took over half of Western Europe before anyone did anything.

Well. History certainly tells us that oppression certainly lends for dramatic upheavals in power, in the end.

Well, the man has proven to have a rather unappealing sense of humor. It sounds like we're all just pawns in some game he's playing for his own amusement.

That's possible. He plays the game well, if that's the case, only inserting himself occasionally.

The best chessmasters tend to keep themselves out of their own games. It leaves less for the pawns to strike out against.
