Honestly. The threats of vigilantism against a single threat would be romantic, if they weren't so blithely ignorant. The world, much less this Barge, doesn't work that way. Rather than bickering about what should and shouldn't be done, efforts would be better put into either moving on or finding the culprit, as so many are already doing. Bringing ( Read more... )

pfft. paddy. really. individual bias written all over it. christ_onabike March 19 2010, 19:19:49 UTC
It's not about being fucking romantic, or... individual bias. It's about giving the fucker what he deserves.

And when the next person who thinks that level of spectacle is an interesting way to pass the time comes along? And the next?

Terrorism is about getting a visceral reaction out of people. They want you to react. The way to combat them is to give them nothing at all.

Don't you fucking talk to me about terrorism.

I don't give a fuck about what they want - even if I'm giving them what they want - this is about what I fucking want and nobody's going to fucking stop me.

It's the worst in a very long time. It's only natural that people react to that.

I understand that. However, it still doesn't change the fact that between the threats and the tension, we're only making the situation more untenable.

Were you caught up in it?

No, I was with my Warden when this happened. However, I've been assisting in the relief efforts and know well enough that the excess tension around here is doing nothing to hasten the recovery of the victims.

Thank you. I felt someone else needed to step in and remind everyone that constructive action is much more effective than the opposite.

Though, ya know, people might mistake your trying to bring logic as looking for an excuse to be critical. People here seem to like that drama and not respect any authority at all, warden or strength.

Which is an unfortunate habit that needs to be dealt with.

I think you'd be surprised how effective good vigilantism is.

What we have are a group of blood-crazed inmates and wardens chomping at the bit for something to blame. Hardly effective in this instance, wouldn't you agree?

Well, yeah. But that's not vigilantism. That's.. impatience and crazy people, which strikes me as pretty standard for the Barge.

Standard, but not necessarily the right way to go about things. I'm not one to resign myself to a disorganized method of dealing with situations like this.

Sounds a lot like what the criminal would say, huh? Don't care one way or the other myself. Didn't die, not interested in stopping crime.

If you find out who did it, you let me know, huh? Need to find me a business partner.

So you're in the business of dealing in weapons, are you, Mr...?

Of dealing in what's wanted, huh?

Danny Archer. You?

An admirable trade on a prison ship.

Julian Sark. A pleasure to meet an equally enterprising individual, Mr. Archer.
