Honestly. The threats of vigilantism against a single threat would be romantic, if they weren't so blithely ignorant. The world, much less this Barge, doesn't work that way. Rather than bickering about what should and shouldn't be done, efforts would be better put into either moving on or finding the culprit, as so many are already doing. Bringing ( Read more... )

I think you'd be surprised how effective good vigilantism is.

What we have are a group of blood-crazed inmates and wardens chomping at the bit for something to blame. Hardly effective in this instance, wouldn't you agree?

Well, yeah. But that's not vigilantism. That's.. impatience and crazy people, which strikes me as pretty standard for the Barge.

Standard, but not necessarily the right way to go about things. I'm not one to resign myself to a disorganized method of dealing with situations like this.

Of course it's not the right way..

You must be new. Are you? New?

The Barge is basically composed of control freaks, emo kids, crazy people, methodical killers, and opportunists. Oh, and the ignorant nice people you kinda feel bad for.

Fairly new.

I see. And where do you count yourself among those?

I'd say methodical killer. What about you?

I respect your honesty. What kind of opportunities do you like?

Also, do you have a name I can call you?

Any kind that can put me ahead of the game. I do whatever I need to. Here's no different from the real world, really. You just have to know the system.

Do you want to teach me the systems, Julian Sark?

..And that's not a metaphor.

I suppose I could.

And what should I call you?

Not if you're going to be a jerk about it.

Well, Hayley, I can assure you that I'm not... 'being a jerk,' as you say.

Make as many friends as you can in as many places as you can. Some might call it treachery, but I call it being prepared for all inevitability. If one alliance breaks, you always have another.

And, most importantly, no matter how many allies you have, it's very important to not trust anyone but yourself.
