Having just paid for the initial run on a new album, I'd like to know where they get the money to just drop CDs like that. I mean sure a few here and there, hand outs to fans. But you figure they put 10-20 on the shelf, maybe one or two get picked up before an employee notices them and the rest hit the trash. Now you've spent 10-20 times as much to get a CD into one persons hands, and it may or may not even get played.

at the velvet rut theatre we document everything and edit shakespeare onto dvd and leave them at cool video stores. in the late 80's when i was big into mail art me and my experimentalmusic/performance art buddy steve bradley ordered these motivational tapes off the tv and then recorded over all of it (using alot of the spoken word from the original tape) and sent it back all nice and neat and got our money back hoping to actually trip some stranger out later ( ... )
