at the velvet rut theatre we document everything and edit shakespeare onto dvd and leave them at cool video stores. in the late 80's when i was big into mail art me and my experimentalmusic/performance art buddy steve bradley ordered these motivational tapes off the tv and then recorded over all of it (using alot of the spoken word from the original tape) and sent it back all nice and neat and got our money back hoping to actually trip some stranger out later.
yeah that's fun and to do it with art forms even funner yeah
going to a building and sitting in a chair and watching a play gets old sometimes
sit on this bank of sand and watch the creative juices flow...
my current design that's running is macbeth at the velvet rut it runs for 3 more weeks
then january gets busy making a lifesize stick figure posable man and doing the lights for meghan's frontera fest piece and doing kelli's frontera fest piece again with the pink and red gel slide both at hyde park theatre
and then lights for a kid's version of midsummer night's dream at the city theatre
which runs late january and bang henry 5 opens at the velvet rut and that's lights and half the sound design
and sometime during all that someone who is doing a kid's tv show wants me to light it and meet and talk about that for feb i guess, a show where kids make all this cool art stuff and regular stuff out of recycled garbage, i'm not sure how far this project is along, around here people bring in the light guy late in the game so it's relatively painless and satisfying for the most part, i tell thee all that fa pull it out of your ass theatre pays off alot.
all this for very little pay
so goat farm by day
you should come for a week or two sometime and we could totally work up some sort of show
later
