 Re: Twitter:  Welovethenhs

The NHS nearly killed me and my baby... I honestly don't think what happened to us would have happened in a Private Hospital.

Having spent 4 months in Hospital (between baby and I) I don't have any faith in most of the staff who work in the NHS or in the way it is run, however I do believe that everyone is entitled to free ( Read more... )

Would you consider explaining your experiences in this post? Liz is genuinely looking for all stories she can about public health care and its faults.

I think everyone wishes the NHS was better. But given the choice between the NHS and the American system I'll take my chances with the NHS thankyouverymuch.

Personally I think a lot of American politicians haven't got a fucking clue about anything outside of their own borders. Otherwise why would people be repeating the blatant, and hilariously inaccurate lie that Stephen Hawking would be dead if the NHS was providing him with medical care.

Yes, I'd choose to stick with our system too. Being able to have free medical care but also being able to choose to go private if you want something better is great, but personally, if baby or I need to go in to hospital again I'm getting a credit card and going private! It does really annoy me that so much funding goes in to private sector medicine and so little into the NHS. It's also a pity that all of the good doctors try to spend as much time as possible doing work privately as it pays so much better.

'Sicko' is an interesting pro public healthcare film.

Oh, and yes I will consider leaving Liz a story. Also, my mum had Cancer and although she had private health insurance she chose to go NHS and she was amazingly happy with the treatment she received. But that was at a hospital in rural Surrey which mostly deals with private patients.
