Title: Cloaked Like Karma.
Fandom: Comics (Batman)
Warnings: Extremely dubious canon-compliance.
Characters: Jason, Steph.
Word Count:516
Summary: Jason and Steph celebrate Halloween a little early, and right a wrong (without killing anyone) while doing so. Probably in the same universe as
Living Dreams but reads fine as a oneshot.

I see what you meant about canon-compliant, but you gave Steph a Case. You had *Jason* give Steph a Case.
OH MY ROBINS I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.
Also, I am still in love with how you write their interactions.

*grins and takes a bow* Thank you! I love writing them together. They just play off each other so well.

She's a dead Robin. She can get away with saying such things.
That does manage to sum up what's so wonderful about both Jason and Steph. That somehow the act of dying for the Batfamily puts them, in some way, beyond all the mythology and the bs, makes them untouchable. And thus makes it all the more meaningful when they are still faithful.
There is no toilet paper decorating the Cave when they leave, but the Case now holds a skirted tunic and tights, and the crate under Jason's arm now contains his old costume, not Steph's.
Gah! *breaks down entirely and wibbles off to a corner to collect herself*

Exactly! And in Steph's case, that's especially poignant because you get her helping Batgirl, which is legit, and hanging out with Jason which is rather less legit. Especially when hanging out with him equals breaking into the cave, and then possibly going trick-or-treating with him on Halloween.

See, in my head, Jason has a scar on his neck that he touches every time that he feels homesick -- for Alfred, for Bruce, for Batgirl or even just for being Robin. It reminds him exactly why he can't go home, better than any of his guns or his helmet can.

Steph's faithful and in his own weird way, Jason's still faithful too, even though he seems to disapproves of Steph's faith in Batgirl. Which is interesting, because Cass has said that she's faithful to the Bat, not to Bruce, so Steph hanging around Cass is, in a way, still a sign of loyalty to Bruce. Though her sneaking into the Cave with Jason and possibly going trick-or-treating with him is a whole different story. That's just dead Robins sticking together as two of the outside-ex-insiders.
