Big Brown retired.  Seriously, I didn't expect that timing.  The foot injury...everyone saw that coming.  Now he will go forth and breed unsound babies for six figures a pop.  Yay.

It just wasn't going to happen, and I'm happy that it wasn't going to happen.  Who were we to question karma?

And I must say, Dutrow is much more pleasant when he's humble and had a thorough ass kicking.  I do hope the horse is all right.  Otherwise, as usual it all evens out and Anak Nakal came in third, so I've had a good day. 

Casino Drive has been scratched from the Belmont, as I sort of had the nagging suspicion he would.  Stone bruise + mile and a half race = nothing good.  If Spectacular Bid couldn't do it after a safety pin injury, Casino Drive wasn't going to do it with a stone bruise.  At least, that's my reasoning.  Now I'll go cheer for Anak Nakal and ( Read more... )
