001. grain of sand

[ The first thing you hear is the ocean.  There is a slight fog.  Bobby remembers going outside, but he doesn't remember how long he's been on the beach.  And he begins to realize this might be a dream.  He is laying on the sand and sits up.  He wonders if this is going to turn into a nightmare or not.]

Uh, yeah. Sure is. So, I'm just supposed to be thinking here?

[Bobby looks out over the water before turning back.]

I come out here when I can't sleep. Something about how big it seems.

[He turns and sees her. A ghost? Maybe but she's not transparent. He looks out at the water before turning to her again.]

Yeah, it's pretty quiet right now. And the sun's not too bright.

Much better than a snowy wasteland.

Seen a lot of snowy wastelands have you? Not all snow is bad.

[The ocean calls her, always. The fog is comfortable. Ami steps closer, each footfall firm as though the shifting sand doesn't bother her much. She steps near Bobby.]
