[ Ariadne's network device turns on while pressed into some fabric, so it's rather hard to see anything. There are noises, however, adorable noises that sound remarkably like squeaks and purrs. Suddenly there's light and a rush of movement, the device being knocked over ( Read more... )

Um... Ariadne?

[ In response, there is an utterly pathetic mew and a paw toward the network device. ]

[Oh god. Stop doing that, woman. Stephen Stills is a cat person and you are too cute to be allowed.]

Damn, glad it's you, dude. Or else I'm just a crazy guy talking to a jungle cat. Uh, you alright? Can you get out of your room on your own?

[When Stephen was cursed into something bipedal, doorknobs became a huge problem.]

[ No she will not, because she has just turned into a baby cheetah and adorable is all she knows how to do in this form.

As it is, Ariadne mews again, tilting her head to one side. She really has no idea whether she can get out or not, but at this point, she's rather content to stay inside and not be assaulted by Pancake or Rhada... or Eames, or Arthur, or Yusuf... ]

I applaud your timing.

[ He doesn't. But he does hold Pancake back from harassing the sudden... cheetah-fied architect. The dog just looks more confused than aggressive, at least. ]

[ There's an irritated mew and a flick of one ear at his comment, but Ariadne gets up and goes to try sniffing Pancake. Maybe he'll still know it's her. ]

[ Pancake's bum is wiggling in excess as Eames sits down, legs folded beneath him in lotus with the pup in his lap. The puppy licks at Cheetiadne's face, making excited keening noises. He suspects Rhada may not give such warm reception, already angry from their even more crowded living situation. ]

[ Ariadne was not actually expecting Pancake to lick her, and she jerks back slightly in surprise.

At least it wasn't a bite. She can work with this.

As it is, her current small size means that attempting to bond with Pancake -- which always makes her feel better -- is going to mean she has to crawl at least partially onto Eames's lap. She would retract her claws so that she doesn't scratch him, but as it turns out, cheetahs are unable to. Either way, the cub cautiously puts her two front paws on his leg, leaning in to nuzzle Pancake's neck. ]

[Janine, of course, doesn't know this is a person, so her 'voice' is less guarded and sardonic than usual.]

Awwww, kitty.

[ ...that is a dinosaur.

Ariadne, for the sake of her own mental health, is going to assume that it's just a person who has been turned into a dinosaur today, and that unlike her, they're able to talk.

Have a pathetic mew, Janine. ]

So cute. [Though Janine's softer around animals, she really doesn't squee. She's also gotten into the habit of talking to all animals as if they understood, though most don't.] The scarf really pulls it all together. What do you think, cat? Should I get one?

At the least I ought to find some shells and vines...

[ There's a pleased purr at the compliment about her scarf -- she's proud of them at all times, after all. She then nods, wholeheartedly approving of dinosaurs wearing scarves. ]

I get the impression that this would be a lot less funny without the scarf.

[ Did you know cheetah cubs can huff? Neither did I, but Ariadne is certainly doing her best. Very funny, Billy. ]

Are you huffing? A huffy cheetah?

[ Her scarf is beautiful, okay.

There's a slight yowl in response, and while it's probably supposed to be threatening or disapproving, it just sounds cute. ]

[ It's some time later on in the day that Arthur is jotting down numbers and whatever else in the interest of getting them a new living space, but he's sitting on the couch with his legs crossed up under him like an adolescent with his glasses slipping down the bridge of his nose. Adjusting them absently, he glances over at the bundle of fur and mewling best identified by the scarf still wrapped round her tiny neck.

Making conversation with someone who ...can't make conversation seems stupid to him, but he does reach to scratch behind her ears, having figured out earlier on she likes that. It's a bit of a relief that she hasn't lost all of her mentality - meaning what's left of their apartment (mostly the odd piece of furniture, sofa, a table chair, the counter) is safe. Sort of. ]

[ In all honestly, with Arthur wearing his glasses, it's probably a good thing that Ariadne is currently a cheetah cub: it is much safer to blatantly stare this way. That said, the ear scratches have her closing her eyes and purring, tiny little head bumping into his hand.

She's curious as to what he's doing, though, so she opens her eyes (still big and brown, even like this) and paws at him. ]

[ He's completely charmed by Ariadne as a cheetah cub and transparent with it, but it's not like it matters since there's no one else in the room to judge the expression which edges on overly fond. This is what happens when children don't get pets they want in actual childhood. Every cute animal is infallible and requires all their attention.

Or something.

His brow arches at the pawing and he's mindful of the claws. ]

New place'll be bigger. Everyone actually gets a room.

[ So much for not making conversation, but he's not asking her to reply so maybe it counts as ruminating.]

[ Ariadne can judge, and she's definitely going to remember and tease him about it later, but for now she's content to get ear scritches.

And if she maybe, maybe wishes people would stroke her hair when she turns back into a human, well... She'll figure something out.

There's another mew at his statement, and then a tiny nose presses against some of the numbers on his paper. ]
