So on Wednesday I was walking through Gamera Place and listening to my iPod, and Knowing Me Knowing You by ABBA came up. I like that song, so I kept listening to me. I always write a pair of speech marks or open and close brackets before I go back to write whats in them. Invariably I forget to close it otherwise XD

Oh, really? I think my thought process when I write dialogue goes like "The dialogue starts here, so I'll put a speech mark in. Here's what they say. Now they've stopped talking, so I'll add another speech mark". I have more trouble with using punctuation from the dialogue in the dialogue tags, like "You ended a dialogue tag with a question mark?" he asked?"

With programming it's different, because I don't always know what to put in the quote marks because it's often filenames, so I just put in the quote marks and go back to it later.

Now that I think about it, I did pick up that habit from programming as well. Especially in web design, where if I didn't think of <> as a pair, I'd forget to close the tag. I guess the logic just carried across to apply to () and "".
