If anyone wants something special cooked, come fucking talk to me about it. I'll talk to the kitchen staff about it.

What we cook depends on how many and how much of the ingredients we have, whether the staff is up to cooking it, and whether we're capable of cooking it.

This is not a restaurant.

is this the last legendary comment before I go...? christ_onabike December 7 2009, 12:20:32 UTC
Are they like potato cakes? Can't cook them like my mum, y'know, but I know what they are. Unless there's some sorta Jewish religious weirdness there that I don't have a fuckin' clue about.

Vidal suggested the key, give it him. I'll pass.

If it's not too much trouble, could you talk to them about pecan pie? It's sort of a lone family tradition for the holidays. I have a recipe, if it's not too much trouble and we can scratch up the ingredients.

We've got pecan pie once a week, usually on Friday.

It's one of my favorites, to tell the truth.

Oh, okay -- that's really great to hear. I'm pretty new here, and haven't had much else but alcohol since eating meals with a bunch of strangers is a little bit much at this juncture.

Not to sound like a princess, or anything. Just a little displaced.

It's pretty common.

If you're hungry, we started a snack table in between meals. All the food without the hassle of dealing with polite society.

Nah, nah, they're latkes. They're different from just regular potato pancakes. Least, think they are anyway. You tell Judy that I'd be happy to make them.

And yeah, Vidal. Seconded with the Irish guy.

Is Vidal getting the key for all shifts?

No. He's not assigned to dinner, and I'm in the kitchen first in the morning.

Did you ever decide what was going onto the snack table? The few times I've checked it, the choices seemed food for children, modern children.

I've been putting out fruit, but it goes fast. What do you want?

Hard-boiled eggs sometimes? Protein other than that nut spread in the kitchen cabinets. And I miss seeing cheese sometimes.

I'll see what I can do.
