None of us can choose our destiny, Merlin.. and none of us can escape it.Words that he'd been told so long ago, and they were words he lived by, more or less. Of course, the Great Dragon had meant Arthur, and would likely laugh himself silly upon hearing that he is about to announce an altogether different kind of destiny today

They hadn't eaten yet, as Morgana said they would eat when they were talking. Nothing helps calm children, well, most children, other than Carys, than food.
So Tarrwyn's sitting on a chair, her legs swinging against the chair, while Carys is simply watching things. Looking at her guardian, the younger decides her chair isn't good enough, and moves over to Morgana's lap instead.

The offer of marriage seemed so much simpler than the offer to become someone's father-type-figure. Not that he expected the girls to think of him in such a way, no. He just wanted them to know they were going to be more than simply Morgana's wards, he would consider them his wards as well, if they wished.
Merlin eventually makes his way to breakfast, a little late, but that was hardly unusual for him.

Tarrwyn has a completely different response. She may be 5, which means her memory can be spotty. Sometimes she remembers everything, other times things come back to her later.
This is one of those times she's always remembered, and she has a plan but still, a mastermind she isn't. When Merlin enters, she looks at him, and then up at Morgana, very deliberately and seriously demonstrating what they'd discussed the day she came down with her illness.
"I love you."

He looks up when Merlin enters the room.
"To what do I owe this honour," he grins at his friend, hoping to put him at ease. Merlin's been less than forward since losing his powers and Arthur doesn't want him going anywhere.

"I have some news, Arthur." There are a few people milling about the throne room, none of them give strange looks to Merlin, which just indicates that talk of his loss of power has not spread yet.
"Morgana has said yes to my offer." Which is not an official announcement, but it will certainly have the court saying something, and Merlin would rather the focus be that and not his lack of magic.

Then his eyes widen...practically boggle out of their sockets in fact!
He almost drops the papers as he jumps to feet and hurries down to take Merlin by the sleeve, pulling him off into a nearby antechamber.
"Your prospal, you mean? She's going to marry you?"

As expected, Guenna was the first to ask the obvious. "I tell my man I'll kill him all the time but I've never bloody well tried it ( ... )

So, of course, this is the perfect time to spot Arthur in an anteroom, looking like he's been trampled by runaway horses.

He doesn't quite understand...how it had all gone on without him knowing.
He has an elevated opinion of his own observance and preception.

Her voice is gentle, one might say a little teasing. "I see Merlin has already spoken with you." Her hand fidgets with the ring he fashioned for her out of magic. She's found it interesting that the spell wasn't undone when Merlin was stripped of his power.

"Merlin?" There's about fifty unsaid questions in that one word.
